Is anyone else saddened by Korras loss of the avatar's ability to connect to the previous avatars?

I'm not really sure how severe this is... On the one hand, yes: losing connection to past avatars should be incredibly limiting, since the avatar state draws on the total power of all past avatars, meaning the avatar state for Korra would be essentially worthless. On the other hand, Korra was able to have Aang restore her bending, so there is obviously some lingering connection, and no one seems to have made a huge fuss after the entire ordeal, and her avatar state wasn't any weaker because of it, so it leads me to think the connection with the past avatars was restored with her bending.

In this case, lightning is generated from the clash of the internal chi energy of the bender. Since it doesn't rely on an external force, it would still work during the eclipse.
