Requesting help. Using AHK's 'WinSet, Style, -0xC00000, %WinTitle%', Firefox plugins 'Hide Navigation Bar', 'Hide Tabbar', and I get this cancerous white line above my simple HTML start-page. Any suggestions to get rid of it?

can you be more specific? you can change the PS1, which is displayed before the user is prompted for input, by editing ~/.bashrc

i use: PS1='\[\e[34m\]\h\[\e[m\] \[\e[35m\]\w\[\e[0m\]\n\$ '

which sets colour codes and also what the prompt should contain (hostname, current directory, newline, $).

you can change the colour palette cygwin uses by editing ~/.minttyrc (by default at least, you might use some other terminal emulator) or by making a colour palette file (or downloading one) and then setting it in the mintty options. i use one of the "base16" palettes you can find on github, with some slight modifications.

Answering my own question, some searching files for strings reveals it's in shell32.dll.mui

So I got that sorted, found the correct part of the dll to edit. Still dunno how to change the BG and text colour to fix the problem.

You shouldn't be using vlc for anything Imo. What you see most people using that you seem to think is nice is mpd + ncmpcpp, deadbeef is a good graphical alternative that's really customizable.
For videos, MPV is much more up to current standards, it's not too hard to set up, especially if you just want to use the defaults. (Which are quite good)
