Hey /wg/. First of all, I want to thank you for brinding me nice papeys over the months i've been here.
Second, I got a question. I see basically everybody here worships linux as his god, and i've been thinking about making the "transition" of windows to linux, but I want to know if linux really is that great, or at least, better than windows, and why. I'm talking here from an average person perspective, I'm currently learning CSS and html and use the computor all day long, but I'm not a pro haxors like the average 4chinner is.
I'll post some of my fav papes I got from here.

And that's all my dudes.
Try linux out on a small partition or harddrive. I suggest Ubuntu or Mint for a first time. If you think you're tech-savvy, start off with debian. If you dont play many games/ use windows specific hardware, youll never want to go back. Learn how to "rice" linux to make it feel very aesthetic. I'm currently working a brand new rice on arch linux and i3. good luck and have fun and feel free to ask questions.

Yeah, I don't use neither of those much.
Is linux hard to use compared to Windows? I've been thinking about this for a while but I've always been told that linux was too hard to use.
It really depends on what you want to use it for, Linux is great for programmers and people who like to have complete control over their machines. It depends on who you ask if "Linux" is better than Windows. There are also many Linux distros so if you are someone who likes a nice prepackaged UI go for Ubuntu, the more "control" you want the more complex it becomes, once you get into Arch you enter a whole different realm. If you like to play video games on your PC and browse the web there is really no reason to switch to a Linux distro, many games aren't available on Linux so there is that problem too. If you are concerned with privacy and want to dive deeper into your machine Linux would be a good choice. If you just want your desktop to look pretty I would first look into rainmeter and if that doesn't satisfy you then move onto Linux, but be warned it does come at it's disadvantages. If you want to test it out you can run a virtual machine and decide from there or you can order a cheap $60-70 PC off of ebay and mess around with it. In my personal opinion Linux is more for hobbyists than your average person, getting your desktop to look good can take a while and setting everything up to meet your standards is a process, if you are just an average person I wouldn't switch unless you are sure you are ready.

Thanks dude.

I spend almost all my time in front on my computer, so I do like to mess with it, although I dont know much about the whole theme. I'll probably switch.

Get one of the more user friendly distros such as elementary, ubuntu or any of its flavors, or mint. Not hard to use at all.
