A few random images from one of my favorite artists.
In case you're wondering: Dore etched every one of these into a block of wood, rather than painting or sketching them. This was done so that they could be used on printing presses for various books like the Bible, Dante's Inferno, Don Quixote, etc...
I'm kinda obsessed with the Tower of Babel... not sure why...

You're welcome. I wish I had more to share but there's plenty out there on GIS to discover... Dore is the only artist I ever purchased art books for. I have three from him actually.
There are so many things I like but maybe what impresses me the most is his ability to create the illusion of light. I mean just look at this: >>6608188
That's a block of wood cut up with a knife, wiped with ink and then pressed on a piece of paper. Unbelievable.
Of course there are many other things one could say about his style but... ya know. :)
