FYI - that's not a "sky tornado." It's the column of ash from a volcanic eruption. The massive electrical charge imbalances created by the eruption (especially all the hot & dry particles & unresolved chemistry in the ash) cause massive amounts of lightening to neutralize the charge imbalance.

FWIW, I agree. It looks like New Mexico or Arizona or something like that desert area. Just a guess, because Utah, Colorado & Nevada are just as likely as California & Texas here.
