After converting whatever image into a bitmap, I just hopped on the terminal and typed things like sed -i 's/fdg/cuck/g' > test.bmp until I got something cool. Oftentimes the image would just be corrupted, but every now and again you get a gem.There are signatures in the file that define properties like colors and orientations, if you look those up and manipulate those it produces cooler results (like the second image). If it wasn't already obvious you should probably use a Linux distribution, but I guess you can "Find all" in notepad in Windows.

Here is the original of those two if you were curious.

Oh hey, I have a bunch of these that I made by accident. I had started wiping a hard drive on my linux box with the command 'dd if=/dev/urandom' and had let it run for a few minutes before realizing I was wiping the wrong drive. I held on to the files anyway just because. I'm kind of a digital packrat. Anyway, I just sorted through my primary pictures folder from within the backup of that drive (I have a folder titled 'possibly damaged files' that I had copied everything into immediately after recognizing my mistake) and hand picked the following.
