Thanks. Unfortunately wallpaper I used as a background wasn't cropped by me, but found in such a resolution on the internet. I tried to find it's wider version but failed. I did my best to create something similar.

you're messing up somewhere around 1:25 of the video

handful of things you're probably doing wrong.

Don't use the magic want tool to select what parts of your vector layer you want to delete.

Use inverse selection of your shape layer instead and erase parts you don't want off your vector layer

While you still have inverse selection, you can guasian blur your background layer. This will make it so that the selected pixels are affected and nothing else.

I don't know if this is your problem, but take a look at my dotted lines. They're like this because I didn't rasterize the shape layer. If you do rasterize the shape layer, then do the steps at 1:25 you run the risk of deleting parts of the render you don't want to delete like bits in the shape.

Typically the residual outline you're getting is because you've selected the render layer (CTRL + Left-Click) and deleted the parts you don't want. What you should be doing is selecting the shape layer (CTRL + Left-Click on layer thumbnail), inverting the selection, and with the render layer selected (NOT CTRL + Left-Click) deleting the parts you don't want.

If this doesn't seem to help, record a video or something and link it this way we can see exactly where things are going astray.

OP for that background,
right click the shape tool > custom shape > look at the top where fill and stroke are, to the right there should be shapes > Look for the 'heart card' (should be next to clover and spade) > no fill > stroke (I put 10pt)

Hopefully that's is helpful. I use CS6 so I don't know if it's different in the other versions of Photoshop.

Not bad for not using PS, what do you use? Gimp? Paint.net?

Here's some items to improve on.

1.) The aspect ratio looks a little off for the Misato picture. (It might be because I'm on my phone)

2.) The render could be better. (Still see some white from the background in some areas)

3.) The image goes over the triangle. Not extremely noticeable from a distance, but can be easily seen from a normal eye view.

4.) Probably should make another version without the Nerv logo, cause more variety ya know?

If your render is cut off, hide the cut off parts so it doesn't look cut off. Also try to get a better render-background color mix. Too big of a contrast doesn't look very good, like in >>1964081 and >>1964071
A good example is >>1963029 where you can find most of the colors from the render in the background.
Also try to get the blurring right, not like in >>1964074 where on the bottom of the rectangle there are still a few sharp pixels. I like the blurried rectangle tho, if you keep it decent.

I've tried to work with perspective. Like, the knees are more in the foreground than her legs, and her horn points more towards the viewer than her hair. Although I had to cut off the second horn because the render was cut off there.
