The images you see on this thread are made of pixels, each with a distinct color.
If you zoom in (or print it greatly enlarged) the pixels become obvious to the naked eye.
The images become 'blocky' and diagonal lines show 'jaggies'.
A vector-image, by comparison, is defined by precise mathematical curves.
You know that a circle, for instance, is X^2+Y^2=R^2
No matter how close you 'look' the edges of a vector drawing are clean and sharp.
But a vector can easily be converted into pixels whereas the reverse is not true.
The image has to be re-drawn, line by line, and that's a lot of work.
There's a separate vector-thread for people willing to do that.

Note: the images which get posted back to 4Chan are 'rasterized' back to pixels
even if the drawing was vectorized.
But the drawing can be scaled such that it's thousands of pixels along each axis

So I'm trying to colorchange this [ https://a.uguu.se/AbI1xwsRWwDE.png ] to make the blues on her outfit dark/royal purple, and the whitish frills into neon/lime green with Photoshop. The purple was simple enough, I just used the Replace Color tool. But as I found out the tool doesn't work on anything grayscale, so the only thing I can see to do would be replacing all of the white in the frills with a flat green by just selecting it all and filling it, but it looks like shit because it becomes flat and loses all shading.

Is there a better way to do this?

Mask each section separately and use the various tools in the adjustments menu to alter the colors.

Try making a selection of the white/gray parts you want in another color(magic wand, or create a path and convert it to a selection), create a new layer and fill the selection with your color. Then play around with the layer blending option (dont know what its called exactly, but its left from the transparency of the layer) and/or transparency of the layer, and probably you get what you want.
I currently dont have access to photoshop, so i cant say this works for sure, but good luck anyways

Thanks for the attempt, but that light is far too harsh and it looks like one big smudge. I just want the word "Sinon" removed, with the rest kept as it is and naturally blended to look like the original without text.
