Post your vector requests and recently done vectors here.

READ THE OP BEFORE POSTING!
>Before requesting, here are some tips:
– Request an image ONCE per thread. Do not bump or second - once is enough.
– Check the lists below to see if your request has already been previously fulfilled.
– All requests are welcome, within reason, but remember:
– The poorer the quality of an image (in resolution and drawing ability), the less likely it will be picked up. The more detail seen and higher the resolution, the better.
– Full-body images preferred. Images cut off on 3 or more sides are very unlikely to be picked up due to their limited usage; keep this in mind when finding an image to request. (Hair or skirt edges that are barely cut off don't usually count)
– Requests for removing the background from an image (called a RENDER) and resizing requests should go to the IMT threads.
– Refrain from using renders for requests. Try to find the original non-rendered image; it is easier for vectorists to work with.
– Note: Overly complicated images are unlikely to be picked up due to their nature. IF your request is taken, please have patience.

I don't really see what's the problem, you can search using the search function and every other general thread on this board changes their OP image.
>>1926290
It's tradition at this point to use the same image. I know the only reason I found the thread is because I used the new thread link at the bottom of the old thread.
Requesting.
Just completed this vector of reinhardt's spray from overwatch. Let me know if I need to fix anything.
>>1926420
Yeah it's not Mercy's you should fix that.
I think this is the 4th time ive posted this. Need this for a wallpaper im working on and I have no other versions. Someone please help

If you are going to work on wallpapers you should be able to do such a simple vector by yourself.

I'd love to do an Atelier one but, at this resolution, the finer details are really hard to see. From what I can see this is from a 1080p PS4 theme so the only way I can think of would be to find the art they used for each character and trace their silhouette that way.
>>1926717
Yeah I got it from my ps4 theme.
That's too bad though, I don't see any art on google for the earlier atelier girls. The wallpaper is perfect for OSX
Requesting. I know frills are hard, but I don't know how hard. Is this too much?
>>1926729
Good news, I managed to find all of them except for the 5th from the left (Violet). I've only found hers in a different pose (in red). If you're fine with Violet being a bit different anyways or if someone could find the missing one, I could do the whole thing.

>>1927234
Sure, looks a bit crammed to me but if it's fine with you, here you go.
Did anyone ever render this frame or variations of it?
It's from the SZS opening.
Here's another vector from overwatch. Let me know if you see anything wrong.
>>1927451
Well you definitely chose the best spray, but some of your shapes are a bit weird, specifically in the eye and the hair tie.
You also missed a line in her hair between her halo and her ear.
Here's a screenshot taken with max settings of the spray; it definitely has some artifacting but even still you can see your eye is wonky.
>>1927357
Yeh good point, she looks too big in there.
What about this one?

>>1927451
The round object on her shoulder doesn't look right too.
so it's been a while since i was last here, but i remember someone regularly posting progress on a zinogre vs yukumo hunter vector they were working on and i was wondering if that was ever finished and if anyone can point me in the right direction

In addition to what has already been said:
The orange circle: Those lines should not taper, but terminate behind her breast.
The red circle: The light grey should be straight and hidden behind the dark circle, without a weird dip in the line.
The green circle: The dark line should be more circular, it's a bit oblong and weird.
The pink circle: These should all be consistent with one another.
The yellow circle: This is really lumpy and bad.
The blue circle: These lines should be more perpendicular to one another, and the ends don't round off right.
The purple circle: This just looks weird.
Thanks for the critique on the mercy spray I'll get on fixing the issues. In the mean time here's a widow spray I just finished.
Some brave soul want to attempt this?

This probably isn't your fault, but she looks a bit walleyed. Her left (our right) eye is just looking too far to her left. I'd also say her nose is out of place and her fingers are too short.
The vector, though, looks great; only nitpick I've got are the vines look a bit flat compared to the dimension the wings and dress have.
Requesting the cutest Misaka.
Is there any vector of Nishizumi Maho, from Girls und Panzer, out there?
>>1929821
I'm not really sure how I would change her eye, and it's not really that noticeable anyway. And i don't really see how her nose is out of place.
Not sure how I would give the vines more depth.
>>1930006
I've seen some of Miho but I can't remember any of her sister.
requesting plz
>>1930011
Mostly, fix her nose by bringing it more to the center, and I would increase it about 30% - both the shadow and the line.
For the eye looking too far, bring it back towards her OTHER eye about 15% = see the white on (our) leftmost side between her hanging bang and her eye? Mimic that on the other (our right) side, but about half as thick, about. Play with it between that thickness for the eye, and half that amount, and see if it looks more like she is looking at the person ont he other side of the monitor or not. If you set up your objects right, it'll be a simple move...

Have they fix the Shaper tool yet? Until I can turn that shit off I'm not using it.

I'm on 19.1.0 so I don't have the Shaper tool, nor would I ever use it after watching some videos on it. I of course can't tell you if its fixed or not, but its only in 19.2.0, so it's not hard to get the version right before it.

This looks like the screenshot it was done from, but I don't have the anime or care enough to download a raw to get a better resolution of it.
>>1930904
Does this work?, i made this beacuse i really would love this one!
>>1931058
I don't think adding more characters is going to look good. By adding Sophie, it already looks a bit off and if I were to add Firis, I'd have to make all the silhouettes even smaller than they already are. I just don't think it's worth it.
>>1931058
>>1931119
If anything, you shoudl most likely make all of them as separate images that people can then stack their favorite five or six onto.
If you were to add more, I'd almost do two circles of them - one inner and one outer, with the favorites in the outside circle, and bigger then the smaller, inside ones.
But I digress...

The one you posted isn't better. Whoever made that needs to learn to use the ellipse tool and rulers.
This isn't a question about vectoring, just how to use GIMP. Is there a way in GIMP to turn a selected path generated from a series of pen tool nodes back in to those nodes again. I've cut out an image and I'm happy with it, but there's on or two areas where the lines could be closer etc. and I want to change that but can't get the nodes back from the path?
>>1932657
That question sounds more suited to the IMT than the Vector thread, people here work in Illustrator or Inkscape, not GIMP.
>>1932665
I found the answer anyway, paths pane has all paths saved there so you can modify them etc.

Linework is very lumpy on the top of her head. You have too much variation in line thickness.
Try to fix those 2 things before you go any further.
>>1935170
Guessing consistency around the first time is just something you learn with practice?
And, is handling consistency on long curves just a matter of persistence and fiddling, or is there some technique that can be taught/told?
>>1935174
Use as few nodes as possible is a general rule of thumb that helps with lumpiness, and trying to work at the same zoom level really helps you get an eye for how wide your lines should be, especially if you can keep them comparable to your mouse cursor or something else with a constant size that is easily referenced on your screen.
Besides that, practice practice experience practice.

Pretty much.
>And, is handling consistency on long curves just a matter of persistence and fiddling, or is there some technique that can be taught/told?
Both. Fiddling I can't help you with but got the part I can tell you:
Use as few nodes as possible, keep the handles parallel and mostly the same length in the middle of lines that have an S turn and longer on the outside of a large U curve, like the top of her head.
Half ass example attached, You want the handles a bit more parallel than that but I only had 5min before I had to work.

We don't do stroke vectors in this thread. The lack of variation in the lineart looks very poor at high quality. There is a reason we push for fills and why everyone that does vectors here uses them. It's rare that people have the patience to go the effort, but it always looks better.
>>1935653
Strokes have their place. There's absolutely no point for an image like that. You might as well just become a drawfag at that point.
>Live paint too
>>1935723
Strokes are good for anything where you want a consistent thickness, which is basically any kind of metal or hard object like armor, swords, and guns.
Anything like skin, hair, clothing and other soft objects that have variation are where fills are superior. That is just the way it works here. Some people get it and some people don't.

The autism is strong in this one

>>1935730

>>1935838
That looks pretty poorly done..
>>1935870
I just followed the tutorial, took a long time tbqh, what did I do wrong?
>>1935875
Inconsistencies in the lineart. Make sure you minimize nodes, and that you give every node a pair of handles. Only place those nodes at the endpoints or major curves, and then extend the handles before adding more nodes. Try not to overextend the handles that it begins to flatten at the nodes. Also, pick thicknesses for parts of the image like hair, skin, clothing, etc. and make sure that thickness is contained within each part of the image. For any lineart not ending in an object (like tips of hair or folds in clothing) end it with a single sharp node with independent handles. Any lineart ending inside an other shape should be two individual nodes in a square shape.
You also need to pay attention when you make your lines in terms of them making sense. For instance, the collar is very disconnected and makes little sense to how it should be in the original. The mouth is also supposed to be two disconnected lines, and is why your single one looks bad. Analyze the area before you start making lines. It saves time in the future.
You're also missing numerous features like shadows on the face and clothing and the blush and highlights on the face, as well as the blush on the lip. Always do a once over before exporting and posting to find things you're missing.
For eyes, always use the circle tool so it doesn't look lumpy and shitty. Do it for the highlights as well. The coloring for the entire image also looks poor, since you copied it from an anime screenshot. Search the character on the booru sites for fanart with better coloring.
This requires a lot of time and effort to get better at this, so it's standard for your first few vectors to look like total shit. You get better over time, if you have the patience to learn.
>>1935875
I quit vectoring myself cs it's too time consuming.
But I can still give you some constructive advice, your thickness is all over the place try to keep it the same for different parts of her body. Your nodes should also end in sharp nodes. And its better you make a nose yourself cs now it looks rly weird and you forgot her blush too. Her legs at the end are wrong too your color passes your inking.
I'll leave the rest to the veterans cs they can explain this stuff much easier.
>>1935887
It just takes a little patience.
>>1935730
Please stop using that word. You obviously don't know what Autism is or means. Go back to /b/ if you're going to be a jackass.
>>1935905
Practice makes perfect...
>>1935882
Another thing to try is this:
Start off making the general shape of the line using just the four endpoints. If the line makes a "c" - you make a "c" if it makes an "s" - you make and "s"
Distance the nodes to the thickness you want, making all the handles parallel.
Once done, go to the "insert node" tool, and add in two nodes in the middle, near where the first curve actually is, on both sides.
Go to the selection tool, and select both nodes.
Move those nodes to make the shape closer to the curve you are aligning too. Make adjustments to the handles for angles, etc. form the closer end and those middle nodes.
Rinse and repeat as necessary. I'd give a vieo of myself showing you, but all I have is illustrator at this point, and little time. I might get inkscape on my computer and do a stream Friday or Saturday, barring things I have to do.
>>1935922

Just a solid color, gmesh for the gradient, and a semi-transparent layer for the shadow from the skirt.
>>1941896
I hear my name, and thus, I appear.
Seriously though - looks good. Only thing I can suggest to give it a little more depth, is to put a gradient mesh on the talismans in her hand to make them havve a "soft shadow" (to enhance the bend) then multiply that layer, or set the transparency for the meshed object to like 10%.
It'll be a subtle effect, but it will keep them from looking so "flat".
Maybe some shading for the fingers on the talismans on the actual talismans? <shrugs>
just my two cents...

Thanks. Looking at how you did your gradients and shapes for the different spots is really helpful in trying to learn it myself.

Would getting this vectorized ruin the colors and shading? Am I better off at IMT?
does anyone have this hanekawa vector
>>1942556
http://reviathestarf.deviantart.com/art/Black-Hanekawa-394345760
Anyone want to take a crack at this? minus the magic circle crap in the background, just Pachy and the flames. there's enough there that at least with the slight part of hair missing on the right side, the slight piece of flame missing on the left and top, and not worrying about the bottom where that cuts off, it should be easy to replicate the missing parts in the re-draw, I'd think.
this is a large image, so there's lots to work with.

>>1943694
Because 4chan doesn't let you attach proper vector file types.

Thanks. I'll try to fill some of these when I have my new work environment set up after moving.
Just found this thread tonight and I've done a few vectors before. Should be some fun practise and help some anons.
>>1943698
Most vectorists will post the .ai if you ask for it, but when most people request vectors all they're really looking for is a large-resolution png anyway.

Looking for a vector I used a long ass time ago. Can't seem to find it anywhere, or at least not where I found it originally.
Would render it out myself if it weren't for the fact that I need this for a phone with a fucking 2k QHD display on it.

Requesting a vector of Triela from gunslinger girl, anything's fine except that one with the swim ring
>>1946420
Vectors are a lot of work, if you want somebody to spend 40+ hours on an image you should really make sure you give them one you want to see done. Saying "anything is fine" makes it sound like you don't really care, and if you don't care why should they?
Hey, I'm trying to vector this, and I'm not sure how to proceed with splitting it at the bottom to create the legs.
I'm trying to keep the main part as close to a perfect circle as possible, so freehanding the whole thing isn't much of an option.
>>1946544
How I would do it :
Make 1 leg, copy it, flip the copy horizontally, line them up using any method you want, and then cut the bottom of the circle to hide the ends in the leg lines.
>>1946426
Let me clarify then:
if anybody has a vector of her, please share it.

Really surprised I can't find any Re:zero vectors anywhere. This would be great if anyone wants to give it a shot! Thanks.
Requesting Prison School's Meiko Shiraki
>>1946585
I'll add that, fore now, make the legs RED, so you can get in that curvy-bit near their closest point on the circle. Make the cut, so the circle is truncated within those red legs, THEN make them black. You can then unify it all as one solid, if you so choose afterwards...
>>1946748
I think that is already a vector. you might want to try a google search for the artist...
Current progress of >>1946544
I'm not sure how to round the corners on the inside or outside. I tried using division with a circle to get a round edge, then merge the wanted parts back together, but that did not work.
>>1946964
Not sure how you would do it with Inkscape which seems to be what you used but Ai has a round corner tool that you can click all the corners you want curved and change the curve all at once so they are equal. Look and see if you can find a similar function.
A mock up of how I would have done it.

Requesting this slut vectorized
Reol['s anime-styled persona] is cute! Requesting this, please.
Just finished my first vector of Miho from daul's tutorial.Looking for advice.
>>1947244
No real complaints since it is a bad example of how to do vectors. It hides all of the common mistakes. Try picking a normal image up and give it a shot, you seem to have the basics down.
>>1947328
One of my favorite shows, I have the special edition lunchbox DVD set.
Yes, I used Ai, it is by far superior to inkscape. To be expected when comparing paid apps to free ones. I use it for work so I own a copy but it is worth getting it by "other means" if you don't.
>>1947244
Looks pretty good there are some small mistakes but you should do a normal vector first before we can give you any real advise.
>>1947333
I wish I had the lunchbox version.
I hate ears
>>1947447
Ears are some of the simplest parts of an image. Use less nodes and more handles and it becomes much easier.
>>1947451
Yeh ok...
I think i need to not try to follow the original so closely...
>>1947452
That is especially the case when you're dealing with screencaps from anime; those artists don't have the time to put 100% into every frame of every episode, so trying to take that one frame and making it stand on its own requires some fudging.
>>1947447
>>1947451
>>1947452
>>1947458
There is a way to do the ear with less nodes - I started the beginning of it to see HOW it works - you'll see there is little to no gap in the image for where the line as a whole is placed. Because of this, I put the two nodes where I pointed, molded them closer to the head a tiny bit THEN I adjusted the two levers at the top and bottom to make the shape more compliant to the original.
>>1947222
Doing this one.
>>1947517
Magic!
From memory i had a bad time with getting an even width when using few nodes, but as I do more vectors I'm trying to use less and less.
Here's some progress, everything is still in a very much raw state.
>>1947760
And how long roughly has this taken you, so far?

>>1947948
low res, but you get the idea
Hey guys i started working on a new vector as you suggested after the Miho one, i'm having a hard time with maintaining the same line thickness and i think i'm doing them a lot thicker than they should be.
Source: http://i.imgur.com/Tj23LPi.jpg
>>1947959
Looks cool. What site are you going to use to get it printed?
>>1948025
Yeah, you wanna go thinner, a lot thinner. Image attached is how I'd do it. Here the .ai file for it if you wanna look at the nodes https://www.dropbox.com/s/3kqq0dpd5pmt960/HotaruExample.ai?dl=0
>>1948090
focusattack.com has it for 5.50 and comes with buttons, guess i go with that
More or less finished. Not exact, but it looks nice and I'm a lazy piece of shit.

>>1947222
It's finished, let me know if you find a mistake or want something changed.
>>1948180
it reminds me of katanagatari
>>1948180
Not him, but you should probably have the black part of the right eye fading behind the hair, since you have the left one already doing that.
>>1948180
Looks good except for a couple things.
People mentioned the eye thing, I would just cut it using the divide tool and make part of it semi-transparent.
The neck/shoulder thing I have marked. It does not line up naturally.
the necklace feels flat, I would just copy/paste-in-place the necklace you have, outline stroke if they are strokes and use the merge tool so it does not double up on the shadows. Then just set a transparency you like and nudge it down like I did in the example.
>>1948198
The shoulder error is actually on the right, not the left. He omitted the shoulder bump that is present on the original.
Also the chain in the original lacks a shadow, and in addition is square links instead of oval, and has thinner lines as well.
>>1948223
Just noticed, the original also uses extremely varied line thickness on the hair, where that has a constant thickness for it.
>>1948223
If anything, he fixed the error on the right from the original. There shouldn't be a bump on the skin, so him smoothing it out is the correct way. It is also incorrect in how the left shoulder should flow to the neck. >>1948198 Is correct in showing how it should flow. Keep in mind, the original isn't always right.
>>1948230
We don't follow the original 100%. Varied lineart looks bad in a vector. This is why we have consistent thicknesses for each area of an image
>>1948223
>>1948230
>>1948233
Its called a clavicle or collar bone and its up to the artist on if they want to include it or not. A lot of anime forgets about it and the style of the image is pretty simple so I could see removing it. On the other hand I think the clavicle is sexy so I would personally like to see it.
>>1948233
>shouldn't
I'm sorry, what?
And even if you say that, one none of the lines are that thick, two they're all blue tinted, three you can split that into at least three groups to have different thicknesses.
>>1948182
>>1948187
>>1948198
Alright, how is this?
>>1948235
>>1948236
I think it looks weird in this style, it might look better in a more detailed image though.
>>1948236
I don't buy it. I've looked at a significant amount of anime art and this has never been something that I have seen. If what >>1948235 is said is true, then it is very rare. The two collar bone lines below the neck or no collar bones at all with smooth shoulders are the most common, and generally the only ones I see.
I don't know what you're harping about the lineart. There is nothing wrong with the thickness, and it looks perfectly fine for how it should look in a vector. Serukui has done a number of vectors, so I trust his ability in doing lineart. There is of course some improvement he could do in terms of smoothing it, but the thickness is not the problem.
>>1948240
Looks good. Only thing I would change is make the shadows below the chain be the same flesh tone as the shadows for the skin.
>>1948242
>>1948240
A lot better. That eye thing bugged me.
Only thing I would bother doing, because I am anal, is even out the shoulders so they have a similar curve.
You have some color bleed from the chain shadow.
>>1948090
Thanks. the ai file helped a lot, it looks a lot better how you did it, I'l start redoing it.
can someone help out with this?
>>1948156
Got that in a higher resolution with the top of her head not cut off?
P.S. Always blue.
>>1948328
If you just want the logo here it is. I recommend adding the blotches in Photoshop if you want them since Ai is not the best for things like that.
>>1948352
thanks! flat colour works perfectly
>>1948349
I don't know how high of a resolution you want. The head was finished but got cropped because it wasn't on the artboard.
>>1948252
Hope this does it.
>>1948384
Most vectors posted here tend to be around 5k px, so roughly double that one and you'd be in line with the rest of the thread.

So I finally managed to finish the Hotaru linework and I'm looking for advice again , I tried going a lot thinner like Dekodere said but i don't know if I managed properly , and I can't do that finger on the right in any way maybe i did the hand wrong?

>>1951708
For the hand, here's how I'd do it (see picture). I generally use that technique for skin and long hair, it helps with the awkward curves. Hands, fingers and nails are pretty tricky so you might need to fiddle with them a bunch.
For the thickness, there are a few areas that could use some touching up but in general it looks much better. I've circled them in red in the following ai file. https://www.dropbox.com/s/k2nvjft995wlop8/Hotaruexample2.ai?dl=0
