can you write up a complete noob guide with pictures and link on how to set up that supergun? im being 100% serious. i gave up after i couldn't figure out how to connect the ntsc encoder and scaler shit to the board.

Just got this
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Supergun-ProGamer-RetroelectroniK-Arcade-Jamma-autofire-voltmeter-included-/152257119363?epid=1987156252&hash=item23733b4483:g:SbIAAOSwOyJX6pvu
And this
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Female-RGB-Euro-SCART-to-4-BNC-Audio-Cable-Sony-PVM-Sega-Genesis-SNES-Neo-Geo-/202029910402?hash=item2f09ebc982:g:tQQAAMXQAEFSD-4B
And I plugged it into a SONY PVM

Also going to need scart cable, ATX power supply, and NEO GEO AES control pad of some kind
>>
>>4249245
Also I heard that if you don't want to go the PVM route and rather connect it to a consumer TV set, an ACTIVE (keyword, active) Scart to RCA/S-Video converter has worked for people

Help.
My Neo Geo CD is having glitches with character sprites flickering back and forth between two positions.

Like a fighting game character each second will have his torso and weapon blink over to 1 meter behind him and then blink back to his body.

What caused this and how do I fix this?

the proper term for this is a super gun, You can build one yourself if you''re handy with a soldering iron.

and yes, that's all you should need.

anything to watch out for when buying mvs1 slot thing and the game pcb?
>>
>>4250081
i would buy an mv1c, latest revision from 1999. If you cant get, get an mv1B from 96. Multi slot boards come with all kinds of issues. I'd stay away from them.
>>
>>4250081
Try looking for one with easily removable bios eprom so you can put in unibios
>>
>>4250147
>>4250840
How do you know which one legit when looking on eBay? There the mexico seller and one really cheap dude in Texas.
>>
>>4250847
Mexican seller is a legitimate PCB, though they will be low quality.

I'd say search for images of MVS PCBs on internet to see what they look like legitimately and compare them to what the seller pictures, as for games, this is a helpful resource.

>>
>>4250847
I only ever saw one bootleg MVS, the pcb looked really crude, no SNK stamped on it anywhere, bootlegging the MVS must have been as expensive as the real thing, so they are rare as hell

>>4251675
There is a chinese dude from shengzen selling mv1c and mv1b on ebay for 50$, he ships fast, bios is asia v6

if you really want a unibios in your MVS you would need an MV1FZ, comes with a bios socket for easy swap

There are other revisions with bios you can swap without solder iron you know

>>4251802
so if i buy a chink mv1c, i have to swap the bios for the unibios?

Ey we got the same supergun my friend!
>>
>>4252961
Nein.

First question you have to ask yourself is if you want to play kof 2003 with bouncing tiddies. Kof 2003 is the only game thats truly censored on non japanese bios'es. On stuff like medal sluhgg you can just go into the MVS service menu and change the blood from red to white.

If you want the UNIBIOS, or being able to pop a jap bios in without soldering you will need an MVS with a socket bios. As far as i know there are three of them: MV1FZ, MV1A & MV1FT.

All other MVS'es have hardwired bios'es.

The reason why the chink mvs is the best is, its the latest and last revision of the neogeo & bios. Plus its rather small compared to the earlier ones.

>>
>>4253092
Probably several grand over the years. Outside of a few higher ticket games, most of this stuff isn't much more than a current gen game at launch. I also sold a lot of other retro games from childhood to pay for these once I decided I'd rather have Neo stuff. I recommend just getting a flash cart at this point though. Most of my games were acquired before NeoSD was available. That's definitely the route I would've gone in hindsight.

>>4253108
No conversions, but only the KOF games at the top right are AES. The rest are MVS and it's pretty easy to avoid conversions/boots for those. Buying AES can be a bit scary. I wouldn't even think about trying to buy one of the $1000+ games.

Ah now I see
Those MVS carts come in the bigger boxs. When i saw Neo Turf Masters (thinking it was an AES cart) my jaw dropped.

I had the itch a while ago to track down an AES copy of Segoku 3 (possibly on a field trip to japan) but life kept on getting in the way. It seems to have doubled in value since then.

Sort of a tangentially related question, but I use my Neo Geo MVS with a supergun (the same Retroelectronik one posted above) and a couple Neo Geo controllers. If I got a different arcade PCB and plugged it into the Jamma interface, would that function the same way? Would the controllers work properly? I was thinking of expanding from just Neo Geo but I don't know what to expect in terms of compatibility

>>
>>4253494
Latter one is pretty nice.
>>4253381
I've heard they do because JAMMA also carries button commands, so each is going to be like Button 1, 2, 3 4, start, credit, etc.. I'm not sure what to say about games that use 6 buttons though, as they may need a kick harness of some sort or wiring buttons to the board (Which I assume is pretty easy considering they have it set up where you don't need to solder the wires, just have to screw the wires in place, and thankfully there are some custom arcade parts that can work in there, I haven't really tried yet as I just have the NEO GEO PCBs and no real point to expand beyond standard 4 button NEO GEO CD pad)

>Why would you even buy something from Mexico?

You know how SNK went bankrupt but they made the neo geo from 89-2004? The reason they survivd so long was because the Neo Geo was really big in thier world shitholes like Mexico, Brazil, & France. It was cheaper for them to have a 4 slot with 4 games thank one new arcade machine from another company. There's a reason bootlegs all come from these places.

why did the price of mvs skyrocket?
>>
>>4255391

Blame the omega. I thought the flash cart would bring down prices. It ended up doing the opposite.
>>
>>4254986

It's one of the most commonly bootlegged NG games. I still don't own a real copy of it, even though my carts for 2-5 are real.
>>
Why MVS bootlegs are that expensive? I was looking at Pulstar bootlegs online, and price is like 50-75% of legit game price.
>>
>>4255507

Because people are fucking retarded. Retarded & POOR. It's cheaper for them to pay $200 for a boot of Nightmare in the Dark than it is for them shell out the full price for the flash cart or a real cart. Some people are just happy to be able to play something like Ganryu or Pochi & Nyaa on real hardware & nothing else.

Mostly ignorance is my bet.

IDK flash carts suck, like anon above already said way too expensive, and is that an actual flash rom being copied over every time i load a game from SD? How fucking retarded is that?
>>
So I have a 161 in 1 MVS cart that I use an MVS to AES converter to play on my AES. That was my best option for a while.
I finally have a PVM to play my AES on with the proper SCART cable, but the picture is very smeared with the colors messed up. I figured it's because I'm converting an MVS cart to an AES then porting the signal through a SCART cable to a PVM.
But I've used the same setup, but with a SCART to HDMI converter to an LCD and the picture was fine. What gives?

Either way, this is more reason for me to upgrade to a NeoSD cart anyway. Just need to save the money.
