Alright folks, I'd like to buy a ntsc-j sega saturn but I honestly have no clue about what to do in regards to CRT compability (if a regular PAL crt would work on it or if SCART would work) I dont know if it can somehow be modded to play pirate games from other regions.
If any of you European anons or anons who know about this subject could help me out, I'd really appreciate it.
Ive looked up online and I saw some sega saturns for sale on ebay but they are often untested and look kinda shady too, so I dont know.
Also, I dont plan on pirating in the long run but I have my reasons.
Blog post:My father was big sega enthusiast back in the day but he ended up giving most of his stuff for donation and I know he loves Panzer Dragoon (the whole series, but specially Saga) and I really would like to surprise him with a sega saturn, I dont have a job so I was hoping for the cheapest method and I know I cant spend a thousand bucks or something for Panzer Dragoon Saga
Thanks in advance.
We had a thread just this weekend I think on this very topic. Basically any name brand yuro CRT even from the early 90s should be capable of displaying NTSC. You WILL want a voltage converter of course

I see, what about the voltage converters though? Is there anything in specific that I should look for?
If I do get a jp saturn I want to be able to play on a PAL crt but I also would like to fully understand everything I need beforehand so I dont make any stupid mistake.
How trust worthy are the ebay sellers?
>>4245307
Fairly trustworthy when it comes to shit working as described just bad to sell chinese stuff that will die within a few months once it's too late to get a refund.
>>4245321
oh, I see.
So, could you give me some advice on where to get proper stuff?
Whats the price range for functional saturns that will last long?
>using CRT

is there a better option? HDTV is trash when it comes to retro or even recent stuff that isnt fully hd I tried playing Xenoblade Chronicles recently on an HDTV and I almost puked.
>>4245337
xenoblade looks 10x better emulated in dolphin.
>>4245424
Im aware now. But still, what I mean is that for everything retro and even some non retro stuff, CRT are better.
Unless ofc you prefer to emulate and upscale things, but it depeds on the game.

It works, I use action replay for region switching

>(if a regular PAL crt would work on it or if SCART would work
A simple SCART RGB work perfectly, otherwise you need a multistandard crt
In before contrarians americlaps who don't know shit about europeans crt

the biggest pal struggle is our flimsy, ps1 and dreamcast game boxes.
they do look a lot cooler tho

Ps2 on the other hand had the ugliest boxes.
