Never played Dragoon but Legia was god awful.

I picked up Dragoon for like 3 bucks not to long ago, didn't play much but it seemed ok, not great but could be enjoyable.

Legend of Dragoon is grossly overrated. Legaia is mediocre at best. Neither makes any attempt to produce a compelling world or characters, or at least have sustainable gameplay.

To think that anyone would choose to play either of these games over the wealth of great RPGs available to the PlayStation.

I never said it had a large fanbase just that it's been amassing one of very vocal people who think it's some undiscovered masterpiece rather than a run of the mill JRPG everyone played and promptly forgot about when it was released. Except for the FMVs I was legitimately impressed by those mainly because they had voice acting unlike FF at the time.

I dropped dragoon at the end (grinding was impossible, the bosses gave 100x more exp). legaia also was very sub par and the graphics were terrible.
I mean, those two were supposed to be final fantasy killers, but just play suikoden and tales of, you're better off. and persona if you have the patience.

I've been recently downloading some PS1 magazines I used to own and read as a kid. There's this issue where they gave LoL an 8/10, and a 7/10 to Suikoden II.

Legend of Dragoon is a great game. Loved everything about it. Never played Legia.

But Dragoon was also hilarious in that, everything other than a complete Addition attack was a waste of time, the Dragoon Additions may actually be completely impossible to pull off, and the ending cinematic is so badly voice-acted it transcends into art.

It's even worse than FFII's, because you keep getting new version of spells that will surpass your old spells, except you need to grind them up from level 1 again. So there's never any point in grinding anything because an ever so slightly better version is just around the corner.
