Beyond the events featured in Chrono Cross' plot, do you feel that there are other aspects of Chrono Trigger that are worth exploring after the stories of Crono and his friends?

A: When I finished Chorno Trigger, I felt very relieved for finally doing it [laughs]. Shortly thereafter, I became involved in the Radical Dreamers project with the idea of making an adventure gaming featuring thieves and the exploration of a manor. I started to write without thinking too much about it and, when I was in the final stages, I began to have doubts about how to conclude the story. It was then that I realized for the first time that that was the story of Sarah [Schala in international versions] and Magus [laughs].

In regards to Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross, the truth is that I did imagine a final episode of the Chrono trilogy, taking place after the time of Chrono Trigger, in which Kid and the others must save Crono, Marle and Lucca. It was an all-stars of sorts [laughs]. But my position is that the past is finished and we have to turn over a new leaf, so let's just let it be. (By the way, it seems that during a time there was talk in Square Enix about a project called Chrono Break, but I had nothing to do with it and I have no further information about it).

This was a really good game as it is, taking into account when it was made, the way it was made, and who it was made by. How would a sequel to CT work anyway?
Either you have to have a new evil somehow appear, which is kind of dumb.
You to have an even older evil be present, which kind of make the first game redundant.
Or you have to send the cast out to space to find the other lavos spores and save those worlds, which really doesn't give much impact really.

The game is perfect and doesn't really need a sequel.
