Is turning your PS1 upside down supposed to help fix disc skipping? I replaced the laser on mine and it still has disk skipping problems.

It helps if the motor is losing power and has trouble achieving the spin rate needed which usually results in the game hanging when it needs to load in new data.

I was under the impression it allowed the laser sled to ride on the upper rails which are generally not distorted or worn. Never heard this motor theory before.
