Which one is better? I've read the Dream Cast port has wonky hit detection, but I never noticed in all my years playing.

I don't have experience but the ps2 version of MvC2 was prone to glitches and frame drops while the Dreamcast port is nearly arcade perfect.

For Third Strike everyone just uses the digital ps3/xbox360 version but if you want a physical copy my guess is Dreamcast as it just is better on arcade ports it seems.

It's alright for casual play it's just not arcade accurate. Some punishes might not work due to incorrect frame data.

Been playing 3rd Strike for about 12 years now, PS2 is much better then the DC version, Xbox 360 version is okay, Hopefully the ps4/xbox One release isnt a terrible lie
