What are some games that you had fun with on your first ever playthrough but found it excruciatingly boring and tedious to play the second time around.
Wonder Boy in Monster World. Fun and charming game the first time, but man this game is a fucking chore to play after the first time. It's been about 2 years since I beat it the first time too

Myst
>>4210628
Most RPGs. Once you know the story it's not really worth putting up with all the grinding to see it a second time.
>>4210629
do you mean Myth?
if not:
Myth
Literally every point & click adventure game.
>>4210628
Almost everything except roguelikes and strategy games.
>>4210635
There are exceptions though. I enjoyed a second playthrough of Legend of Dragoon once you know the secret of the black monster. Also, Final Fantasy 10 when you know the complete Al Bhed language.

Are people just using "grinding" as a synonym for "fighting" now?
>>4210693
Grinding it's fighting for levelling
>>4210693
People think you need to grind in rpgs because they suck and are adverse to any kind of challenge.
>>4210628
Paper Mario and the Thousand Year Door
>>4210875
Only the chapter with the little grey faggots living in the tree is annoying. The rest of the chapters are fun as fuck. Also
>that one pianta mafia chapter where you get to visit an island
>the yoshi chapter with the fighting tournament
>the train mystery chapter
There's a reason why this is the best paper mario game in the series.
>>4210958
Relpay Hooktail and tell me if that shit is fun. Also Chapter 3 without the mystery.
>>4210628
I played this game twice and enjoyed it. I'll probably play it again sometime, too.
I have to agree with you OP. It's one of my favorite games of all time but fuck if I will replay it. The later sections are some bullshit.
Pic related is pretty good too, but I'll only replay 2.
>>4210628
FF6
Replayed FF5 multiple times, though.
>>4212002
Dragon Quest 1 and its overly primitive battle system requires you to grind to a certain level to beat the final boss because there's nothing more to that battle beyond whether or not you're able to exhaust his HP before you run out of MP for your healing spell.
>>4210628
it doesn't help that the ending is a huge letdown.
>>4212079
DQ1 can be beat at level 17. Level 20 is considered almost easy.
>>4212154
You need to grind like a motherfucker to reach level 17 too. He's easily reachable at level 12.
>>4210703
I like spacing out while I listen to music.
>>4212281
Why not do something useful with the time though? Other than just making an easy game even easier.
>>4210664
This.
I have a feeling System shock 1 + 2 would be like this.
>>4210628
Any of the old Doom games?
I like the enemies and weapons and shit, but some of those later level layouts are just ridiculous
>>4210960
I replay the game yearly and both of those things you mentioned are fun.
>>4210628
>>4210628
Super Metroid and MGS
like wtf is the point once you already know where you are supposed to go
also every rpg
Tekken
>>4215163
Reluctantly this
Majora's Mask, however...
>>4216834
>Reluctantly
>>4215314
You for real? Both of those games incentivise multiple replays. MGS has fun NG+ items and the ranking system and Super Metroid's walljump is taught to you far enough in the game to allows you to replay and shave time off your next runs for sexy Samus etc. also the whole item collection percentage
>>4217257TIMING!
>>4210628
Mario games, with the exception of that one for Gameboy with the different worlds.
>>4210703
some games are impossible without grinding. see:dq1
>>4217821
How many more can you name?
>>4217863
Terranigma, you deal 1 damage if you aren't on the same level range as the boss
Sonic 1 and Super Mario World. I have more reasons to replay Yoshi's Island and S3&K but not these two games.
>>4210628
your mom
>>4217871
Never played it, how much extra grinding do you need to do so you can damage him?
>>4218020
It depends, each boss has a different level cap
