If it were an anime he'd be the dad the 16 year old protagonist visits.
>>4201383
Fuck, I'm 27 next year and still have that PhD in MIT unfinished.
HL1 had too many weapons anyway in my opinion. I'm all for weapon variety but carrying more than 9 or 10 at a time is just too much I think.

One may feel that way, but it's impressive how almost all of them have a certain use to them. I would say only tripmine and the wrench in OpFor didn't really have any proper use. If the handgun didn't share ammo pool with the MP5, I'd say it would be completely safe from being one upped.
>>4204371
I used the wrench more than the knife in OpFor. The heavy swing on it is great for basically the entire lower tier of enemies.
Tripmines I'm not sure I ever used in any Half-Life game or in Duke Nukem 3D where they are also present. They're literally just there for the "technology!" aspect and I'd prefer to just run around and shoot things than try to bait soldiers into the traps or whatever.

I can still become the physicist I always wanted to be. I'm not uneducated because I'm stupid. I'm literally autistic and I've been hiding in my basement for the last 10 years, browsing 4chan and going to therapy.
Goddamn Gordon, only 2 years older than me and he's already light years ahead of me.
23 years old
Fucking twenty three years old. What were you doing when you were 23 years old? Playing computer games, jacking it to cartoon porn, arguing with anonymous people on mongolian basket weaving forum? That's great, but here comes JC Denton to save the world in his early 20s while you're still trying to get your first gf.
>>4204780
He looks like he's in his early 40s
so /vr/
what would you like to happen for the 20th HL1 anniversary next year?
>>4204937
Make all of Goldsrc free
>>4204781
Know a few friends that started balding around that age.
>>4204963
free as in open source?

HL1 20th anniversary special edition. Perhaps re-release HL1 with previously unseen cut-content added to the game, HL1 beta etc. Maybe a full Half-Life documentary that explains everything, even the ambiguous plot and what the writes really meant with the events.
23 years old, never finished high school, on disability because I'm autistic and have crippling OCD. I only have four years to become a rockstar and join the 27 club, and I have no musical talent whatsoever. Fuck me.
>>4204773
Hang in there my nig. My kid bro is in med school and apparently people. In their 30s and 40s have enrolled every now and then. Never too late.

Only reason I own a PC. The only other game that keeps me on the PC is STALKER series. ONLY reason. Rest of my gaming is low-fi/standard def.
>>4204780
I graduated Uni and spent the next two years trying to get a job in my field.

I played HL rather late in maybe 2014 or 2015 (and still haven't touched HL2) and didn't like it at all. I have absolutely no problem with retro graphics, let alone early 3D (currently playing Driver 1 again). But hell, looked all those warehouse complexes and grey office corridors boring as hell. Even when you finally can go outside it looks rather dull and uninspiring.
I wouldn't say it's a bad game per se or that I hate the game, it's just mediocre and dull. I still don't understand all the fuzz about this game and how this could spawn so much (IMO undeserved) fandom.
>>4201383
>tfw turned 26 last week
one more year and i can fight Xens and wield gravity guns
>>4205260
It has a good story, the shooting mechanics and movement is very tight and it's fun to play.
>(and still haven't touched HL2)
It's a very dull game with one or two decent areas, but since you dislike HL1 it might be right up your alley.
>>4204773
Makes me feel a little bit better about almost being 21 and just now getting my ged
>>4205327
Ravenholm and Highway 17 are top tier still, even if the rest of the game is showing its age.
>>4205616
ravenholm is babby first spooky level
and highway 17, top tier? lol

Looks old for his age but with all the xenoestrogens in the gene pool it's likely accurate. Hell, look at our modern day numales.
>>4206968
Overrendering, BCGs and a serious face make anyone look old.
>>4206967
But I'm white and grew up in Minnesota.
>>4204971
Not him but yeah. It's been 20 years and basically no games are being made for it, at least on the commercial level. You might as well open source it to get more interest in Half-Life, like John Carmack did 20 years ago now
>>4207545
I meant have HL1, CS, TFC, etc become free to play but that'd also be fine
hammer could really benefit from being open source
