How did the NES fourscore work technically?
I mean, the Famicom had two hard-wired controlelrs, so the console was clearly not designed for more.

It tapped into the 8th CPU interrupt and only sent data signals on the second clock cycle.

What games actually used this thing?
>>4200426
Nightmare on Elm Street

Super Off Road and Nightmare on Elm Street are amazing in 4p.
There are also a bunch of Famicom exclusives that use it, as well as a 4p romhack of Battletoads.

Super Spike V'Ball with four players is also amazing. It's a lot like the Beach Volleyball minigame from Mario Party 4.
World Cup can also be fun, but also frustrating when the graphics deteriorate into a flickering mess when all players are right in front of the goal.

Famicom had several games that used a 4 player adapter.
>>4200497
Yes, but AFAIK they only work on the Famicom 2.

No, the Famicom already had an extension port.
Guantlet 2 with 4 players was really fun, but why the hell did that game not have an ending?
>>4200426
Warlords clone called Quadralords came out last year that uses it with four Arkanoid paddle controllers

TMNT 2 and 3.
Friend of mine had something similar. Was almost the same size as the NES if I recall. But I could be mistaken.

Neither of those games support 4 players. Heck, they *barely* support 2.
