Go suck Adam Smith's dick and shove a copy of Atlas Shrugged up yer arsehole.
More on topic, I like the romanticized feeling of people smoking in old movies. Recently rewatched Alien, and sure enough, they were smoking on their stupid spaceship. Makes for a nice atmosphere though and fits well with the gritty feel of the movie.
But boy, am I glad smoking is banned in most places where I live. Shit stinks and it does give you and the people around you cancer. I like seeing it in movies and videogames though and I think it's kinda silly to banish tobacco out of all media. If you're not half-braindead you should realize that they do not represent reality. Same argument as with graphic violence. Watching Rambo or playing Quake did not incite in me the desire to go on a bloody rampage.

Booze isn't deadly and stinky?
Weed isn't obnoxiously stanky?
Car exhaust?
Come on man, guy's dog died of old age.

Winsor McCay drew Professor Gorilla and many other anthropomorphic animals as smoking because at the time smoking was a quintessentially human behavior.
