Have to with Final Fight. Probably the arcade version though, the SNES is actually offensive with it's fucking dumbass censorship.

SoR was a great example of SEGA's "can't get 3rd party support? Fuck it, we'll just make our own ripoff" mentality.

But overall, I have to hand it to Final Fight. Literally poured a ton of my pocket-money into that fucking machine.

Final Fight Arcade is the pinnacle of Beat em' up. But SoR has better games at overall.

I enjoy both Streets of Rage Remake and Super Final Fight Gold, however, but between the two I'd probably go with SORR.

As far as the originals, there are plenty better beat 'em ups from that era, we've been through this over multiple threads.

This is it, yeah. Streets of Rage was shit, got much better, then a little worse. Final Fight was incredible, got a lot worse, then a little better.

There is no debate here at least as far as the SNES version of Final Fight is concerned. It lack co-op mode and has unnecessary censoring so Streets of Rage wins by default.

What's with the hate for SOR1? SOR2 is actually the worst out of the three. People only dickride it for the music.

Overall, I'd say any Streets of Rage game is better than the SNES FFs. Those really suffered under the slowness of the SNES.

SOR beats FF on SNES.
SOR1 gets a ton of enemies on screen.
SOR2 is a more interesting game than both.

FF in arcade is loads better than SOR though, despite having retarded coin-eater mechanics (like randomly jacking the difficulty sky-high, and that's not the level design having difficulty spikes, that's just a thing that happens some credits).

The first Final Fight is destroyed by any Streets of Rage game, the first of which is beaten by Final Fight 2, which is beaten by SoR 2 and 3, which are both beaten by Final Fight 3.

Sega CD Final Fight ranks about as good as Final Fight 2 here. Mostly it's all about dat Lucia....
