Yet at the same time as BN we had megaman Zero which was X except better in every way, a logical evolution of the series.
Megaman died in no way during that time period. Both series were so successful they both had spiritual successors on the DS, technically *those* killed megaman.

People claiming it was put there to hint at a new game are nuts.

If you've looked a little at MM concept arts, there are tons of unused crazy ideas.

The most sensible answer is that whoever made this art museum for MMLC2 misplaced this file. It's definitely not MM8, but it could be some early MM9 concepts or something from Battle Network.

My theory is that it's an early MM9 concept before the artists were told to back down (it's said here that they were having a hard time limiting themselves). The bricks indicate this could be the power get from Concrete Man.
