I haven't played a whole ton of pinball video games but I want to. I remember liking NES Pinball a lot because it had that great Nintendo charm.
What are your favorite retro pinball games?

Space Cadet because I'd compete against my dad, and GBC Pokemon Pinball, because holy shit that game is fun. My friend had Revenge of the Gators, which is aight too.

Also, never played this one, but what thread would be complete w/o https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UimIrTjuvfE

I remember Intellivision Pinball being really enjoyable.
>>

The story in the image is really funny.
I actually went to my local retro game store last month and picked Kirby's Pinball Land. It didn't work. Tried to make it work 50 times. Had to return it. They apologized that it didn't work. Apparently the pins were rusted or something. They have a guarantee that all their games work but I guess that didn't apply that day. Sigh...

If I had a 2600 I'd play it

Alien Crush
Devil's Crush
Jaki Crush

all 3 are great.
>>
Rock n Ball (NES) [only pinball video game with 2-player head-to-head, that I'm aware of; FANTASTIC with 2 people]
Kirby's Pinball Land (Gameboy)
Alien Crush (TG-1G)
Devil Crash [aka Devil Crush] (TG-16) [ported to Genesis as "Dragon's Fury]
Jaki Crush (SNES)
Battle Pinball (SNES) [probably my most played]
Super Pinball (SNES)
Super Pinball II (SNES)
The Last Gladiator (Saturn)
Necronomicon (Saturn)
Visual PinMAME (for recreations of actual tables)

That should get you started.

If you liked Pokemon Pinball, and especially if you're into /m/ like me, try Super Robot Pinball, it's awesome.

Always loved Galactic Pinball on Virtual Boy. I used to bury my face in it for most of a day at a time.
>>
I personally loved Epic Pinball on the PC. Another good pinball game was Midnight Magic for the Atari 2600
>>
The problem with retro pinball games is that they give you a false sense of being a pinball expert. Real life pinball machines are much faster than what the NES is.
>>
Pinball Dream was pretty fun, haven't played it in a while though
>>
>>4176309
Most of the pinball games I like aren't retro, old systems didn't do real pinball very good justice in my opinion.

But I do have a soft spot for Sonic Spinball. I don't like any of the normal Sonic games at all, but that one is a good deal of fun.
>>
Pokemon Pinball.
>>
Full Tilt! Pinball
>>
Pinball Quest on the NES. The physics are off a bit and take some getting used to though.

Space Cadet

OP here. I just looked up the game on YouTube. Duuuuuude this pinball game looks fucking awesome. It has Evangelion characters and music in it too.
>>

I think pinball video games can be pretty fun, and they actually don't need to be like real life pinball machines, in fact, they play more like a mix of pinball and pachinko. The ones that are like that are, pretty much all the old ones, Pinball on NES, Video Pinball on Atari2600, Pinball Fantasies on PC, Devil's Crush in MD/PCE, they're all completely vertical and the physics of the balls are more on par with small pachinko balls, rather than big, heavy real pinballs.
And that's fine though, it works. I love all of these games. They are their own thing, I won't get the same experience playing on real pinballs.
Then there's more realistic ones, where the table it at an angle, so it's more like the real thing. Space Cadet was like in-between, it wasn't completely vertical, but it wasn't at the right angle to feel realistic either.
>>4177219
Gotta agree here, Sonic Spinball is not a good example of a good pinball video game. I'm not saying it's horrible or anything, but as far as pinball games go, this one is not very good, it has some good art direction though.
>>
Video Pinball on Atari 2600 is weird, but still interesting.

The physics are so bizarre, it's like a challenge to see how long you can get the ball to bounce all on its own. You can just leave it to bounce around the field for minutes without intervening. Kind of a chill game in that respect, but very much unlike pinball.

Yeah it has arkanoid physics, definitely interesting and actually can be fun.
Speaking of arkanoid-like, the bonus phase of NES Pinball is pretty much arkanoid.

>[aka Devil Crush]

Fuck, I mean "aka Demon's Crush". The original release is "Devil Crash", but there's a version called "Demon's Crush" as well.

Nice thread....
I liked those pinball games back than.
And DICE were the kings of the genre. To bad they are wasting their potential now with those rubbish Battlefield and Battlefront games.

Pinball Dreams
Pinball Fantasies
Pinball Illusions
All were fantastic.

Too bad, when Spidersoft took over after DICE the games suffered. Pinball Mania was garbage.

But I had lot's of fun with "Slam Tilt" and "Pinball Brain Damage" on my Amiga 1200 too.

I think because it's not really a pinball game I accept it more on it's own merits and like it for what it is. Ones that are trying to be pinball but feel off I never dug as much.

Have you got timeshock ultra on steam yet? it's exceptional.

Pokemon pinball

Even came with a built in rumble pack so you can FEEEL your game

I find myself thinking the same as I play more real life pinball. Games with their inaccurate physics (I understand they were necessarily bad) just don't do it for me unless there's some clearly impossible or impractical extras built in, or a neat gimmick to distinguish it.
