I've only played Galaxian (I think it counts), Galaga and Galaga 88. What is your favorite in the series?

I used to like the original Galaga more but I don't know, 88 has some pretty visuals
NES one is really good beside the Arcade version.

It's not official, but Deluxe Galaga on the Amiga is my favorite such game ever.
My favorite strategy: Get yourself a double shot powerup, autofire, and a couple of extra bullet powerups first, then kill everything on a level but one guy. Leave him there, and wait for the Hurry Up saucer to come out, dodge its missiles and maybe kill it for a rank badge if you can. Wait through a few more Hurry Up saucer attacks, and a big red ship comes out. Kill that sucker for ALL the money, buy shields and super weapon, proceed to kick some ass.
I think there's a PC port too, but I don't know how good it is.

Galaga, and Galaga '88, are the two best versions.
I also HIGHLY recommend Cosmo Gang the Video, which is based on Galaga gameplay and also made by Namco, but it has different graphics and 2-player co-op, which is tons of fun.

My nigga, that game is fucking excellent. Cosmo Gang the Puzzle is fun too.
No one has mentioned Gaplus yet, so you should definitely play that too, OP. There's a bunch of cool new power-ups, most notably a new capture beam that lets you quintuple (!) your firepower. There's a fun new bonus stage based around "juggling" enemies, and there's a secret trick you can do to unlock a powerful Hyper Ship.
Galaga Arrangement is also good, play it on the "Namco Classic Collection Volume 1" rom in MAME, although some of the sprite scaling/rotation visuals aren't working right.

Galaga is my jam.

No, Galplus is Galaga 3. It's pretty tough, I'm not a fan of it myself.
88 is the good shit
