What retro game do you wish you were good at?

Probably bullet hell shooters or really just shmups in general. They seem like they'd be really sweet to get into the groove on but I just can't.

my buddy spent like 15 years in front of this game and nowadays it's literally the only game he has installed and is fucking great at it despite not reading the manual once.
He was surprised to learn that your hero's movement speed depends on the slowest unit in the army.
I can just fucking sit and watch him play like a cuck. Feels bad.
