Bullshit. I'm not even a PVMfag, I'm happy with most any CRT, but stereo audio is a must. There's a surprising amount of retro games that don't even give you the option and will happily play one channel.

That point's redundant seeing as most mono TV's output mono via speakers/headphones as well, you can clearly see OP's does because it only has a white audio jack. You might see it in some professional monitors but consumer sets are generally all stereo or all mono.

Mono TVs never even accept stereo signal. Speaker/headphone out is as useless on those as OPs picture.
Also, you hook up speakers to the console or switch not the TV in the first place, enjoy your interference.
