People on /vr/ actually play video games unlike the faggots at /v/, right? Seriously why not attempt to beat one of those old games you never could despite trying this weekend?

Let's fucking do this and use this thread as a place to discuss our attempts and to give each other tips and encouragement.

Anyway I don't know about you guys but I am going to boot up Section Z on NES and give a go at finally beating it.

Seriously, good idea.
I should play some SaGa or Vagrant Story because I just downloaded them yet never started them.

The Panzer Dragoon series. There are a lot of games I want to explore on the Saturn to begin with.
>>

>why not attempt to beat one of those old games
Because I only play on emulator now and I have no controller which makes everything very hard and I don't know if any controller I'll buy will work on my system ugh
>>
This weekend I will finally land the plane in Top Gun.

Wish me luck mates!
>>
>>4168284
I guess I never did beat Humans on Genesis. Fun game, though.
Ah hell, why not?
>>
A lot of people come here just to defend their childhood against other's childhoods.
There's a lot of people who didn't grow up with the most popular systems, and you can tell they're bitter as fuck as adults.
They use /vr/ to vent about their frustrations in life, in the form of console wars from 30 years ago.

xbox 360 controller has worked on all my shit, and I have had as diverse of computers as RPI3, Gateway ML6732, HP DV6, and some random Desktops-- all running different variations of linux and Windows Vista and 7.

In linux you don't even need special drivers, shit JUSTWERKS

>>
>>4168284

in the last 3 weeks I managed to finally beat FF6, Mother 3 and Chrono Trigger, I had some savefiles sitting around for at least 6 years and I even had to restart FF6 a couple of times in the past because I had actually lost those saves a couple of times

right now Im considering starting AQ3 and FFV
>>
>>4168410
I think it's more that they just don't want to emulate, for whatever reason (Afraid of it being illegal, don't know where to get games, just too fucking dumb to setup an emulator). So their nostalgic memories are all they have going for them.

It's the same reason you see so much e-celeb shit here, it's the only way they know how to experience retro games nowadays.
>>
>>4168450

>AQ3

I mean Dragon Quest 3
>>
>>4168450
I can't for the life of me start from old savefiles in most RPGs, especially Final Fantasy.

If I'm not playing the game, it's probably for months at a time and I've already forgotten the plot.
>>
>>4168450
Play DQ3 and then FF5
>>
>>4168457
I played through FF7 very casually over the span of like two years without much trouble. Probably helps that the game recaps the plot every two seconds, though.
>>
>>4168330
Which SaGa? They are all rather different
>>
>>4168465
I have played the first hour and a half of FF7 and no further so many times
>>
>>4168403
I fucking love that game, but how far through are you? It's pretty long.
>>
>>4168457
I remember in Nintendo Power when Earthbound was coming out they had part of an interview with Itoi. He said he loved RPGs because you could save and continue them months later. Even as a kid I thought he was out of his mind because who can even remember what was happening months down the road.
>>
>>4168284
No I'm not some faggot who can't move on from the past. I just get all my knowledge of retro games from wikipedia and Youtube.

Frontier is great, dive right in, just be wary of Lute/Riki scenarios, those are somewhat harder than the rest
>>

As of this moment, I haven't started. I'm actually packing for a move, as it is and once I'm finished packing for today, I'll hop on Genesis and start out.
I've got until the 10th, though, so I guess I can start any time I want. I'd just rather be done packing for now.

A bold challenge.
One weekend might not be enough for all campaigns.
>>
>>4169109
You can do it bro. NG2 is the easiest in the series because you get your red ninja ghost helpers. Just learn the layouts, where each item spawns, and practice. It's not too bad.

But I did this already, anon

Playing Breath of Fire 4 right now. Really digging it so far, interesting world and the magic combo stuff is really satisfying to use. Gonna look into a few more PS1 RPGs after it, never really got the chance to back in the day aside from the FF titles.

I just pulled an all-nighter after getting most of my shit packed and I have completed Humans. Game is definitely long, and hard in some areas, I'll admit, as a teen, I wouldn't have had any problem, but being older and sleep deprived, it gave me some trouble. Still, I have my senses about me somewhat, I didn't bother looking up any walk through or guide, so at least I did it on my own.

I'm going to bed now.
>>
>>4168284
I managed to do it with Bomberman on famiclone as a kid.
It was borrowed game that I had to return and I was really into it so i decided to give everything I got.
>>
>>4171142
Impressive! It took me much longer than that when I played it as a teen. Hope you had fun with it!
>>
>>4171126
Unfortunately he's already playing IV... III is decent but it's nothing compared to IV. I sure wouldn't want to have played them out of order.
>>
>>4171219
Most people think 3 > 4 though.

both are top tier
>>
>>4170182
WTF? There's like 20 campaigns each with 3 missions.

You don't have anywhere near enough time!
>>
>>4171213
Was a really good game. Loved it, actually. Ranking it up there with Lemmings 1 and 2.
>>
No they're not. They're collecting old plastic crap.

>>4168284
it's the other way around, sadly.

Just recently finished Digimon - Digital Card Battle. That's the only game i played in the series, still beat it like 4 times. Overall great game but fire element is a bit too good. Maybe i should try out another one in Digimon series, like digimon world, idk. Back in the days i enjoed first couple of anime seasons too.
>>
>>4171885
I am glad! I feel like I shill it around here a lot and rarely come across others who played it. Such a charming game, and I love that music.

Lmao no bitch. I grew out of video games long ago. I basically just come here to shitpost about Trashure and weebs now

Finally managed to defeat all of Starcraft a week ago.

previously I managed to defeat all levels save the one Zerg mission where you have to kill the Overmind with Dark Templars, I always had my dad defeat that level. The last two levels are a joke in comparison.

Enslavers fucking raped me though
>>
>>4168438
I'm playing Shadow Tower with a PS3 controller, I'll be fine.
