their games have a certain charm. They are quite unique, enjoyable, but not amazing.
>>
I've been meaning to play Mischief Makers, not because its a treasure game specifically but because i really want to use a dpad game since most of my analog sticks are pretty worn. Is it good, worth $15 ?
>>
>>4163458
I think it's one of Treasure's weaker games, but it's not bad. Most people seem to love it.

Their games are fun, the only ones that i think are significantly good are radiant silvergun and guardian heroes

Reminder that at least one of the anti-Treasure guys on /vr/ (if not the only one) believes all people who like Treasure are Nintendo fans:
https://warosu.org/vr/thread/S4157743#p4159602
https://warosu.org/vr/thread/S4157743#p4159652

Don't take his opinions seriously.
>>
>>4163403
Me too.
Did you have to do a thread for this though?
>>
Gunstar Heroes
Guardian Heroes
Sin & Punishment 1 & 2
Astro Boy
Bangaioh (I only played the DS and 360 games)

Treasure have a bunch of great games, I've struggled with some of their pure shooters, but that just because isn't my genre.
>>
>>4163710
Their shooters are just harder than the rest of their library. They're arcade games, so they had to be designed to be difficult.
>>
>>4163769
Thanks for making a Treasure thread, I love seeing their logo in the catalog.
Also
>implying I'm a NIntendobaby
I'm a Sega guy, but nice traumas you've got there.
>>
>>4163716
And even by shmup standards compared to say, Cave or Psikyo, they aren't all that difficult. And their scoring systems are trash.
>>
>>4163925
Yeah they don't have second loops, beat it once and it's over.
>>
>>4163925
RSG is kinda dumb but I like Ikaruga's scoring. Unlike RSG, you only need to let enemies live if you fuck up your chain.
>>
>>4163960
>Keep hating on Treasure though, your opinions will never be popular

Treasure is kind of dead, you know
>>
>>4163976
Kinda, but they're still milking money off their old games, like Ikaruga which was released on Steam.
People would go nuts if they release RSG HD on Steam, dunno why they haven't yet. Probably don't need to, I think most of the Treasure guys are busy doing other freelance work, or maybe just enjoying life.
Ultimately, this is /vr/, so we're talking about their /vr/ era.
The opinion that "Treasure sucks" is indeed unpopular, but it's interesting, I'd like to discuss with people who actually hate Treasure, since it's so rare to find such individuals. The bad part is that they don't really want to discuss.
>>
>>4164001
Last I heard the director of RSG/Ikaruga was making another shmup, but that was years ago so who knows where that went.
>>
Pretty sure the only people who enjoy treasure games are kids who've never played an actual arcade game

Oh wait, never mind, shitposts can barely be called opinions.
>>
>>4164001
It's just a typical reaction from hipsters to popular companies honestly, nothing special. On the opposite there are diehard Treasure fans that genuinely believe they are the top of the top and shit like that.
It's obvious that the interaction of these two just leave us to a lot of shitpost
>>
>>4164051
>Oh wait, never mind, shitposts can barely be called opinions.
Some Treasure fans are just as shitposty´ and the mods just don't care, it really makes u think
>>

This. Treasure shmups are for people who don't play shmups.
>>

Fuck off, autist. /vr/ isn't your personal safespace.
>>
>>4164069
>>4164061
I honestly don't see that many "die hard Treasure" fans", just people that like their games (or some of them).
Anti-Treasure guys are a lot more vocal, and they barely have opinions, other than "I hate Treasure because normies" or posting that "trash" picture, I mean, so far I haven't seen Treasure fans taking the time to make these shitpost images.
>>
>>4164076
>your post is negative about treasure? shitpost!
One thing is to be negative, another thing is to shitpost freely by claiming all people who like Treasure are "kids" or "normies" or whatever. In the end, you don't really dislike the company, you have a thing for some supposed fanboys of the company.
>your post is positive about treasure? goodpost!
Not necessarily.
>>
>>4164086
It happens a lot outside of /vr/. The anti-Treasure posting that occurs here is probably just venting against that.
>>
>>4164093
Then why come to /vr/ to vent about something that happens outside?
Also, I dunno, I don't think Treasure has THAT many die hard fans.
Why I don't see the same amount of vitriol against other developers? I mean, you claim you hate Treasure because you only like arcade games, right? I don't see you shitposting with the same passion against devs like id or Square, which have a lot of fans around here.
>>
>>4164086
>I honestly don't see that many "die hard Treasure" fans",
Speak for yourself, I've a been namecalled as "anti-treasure" a bunch of times when not even talking about Treasure at all, I've read posts about their games being pretty much the only worth playing in their respective genres as the rest is shit.
some treasure fans are just as passionate shitposters as anti-treasure
>>
>>4164096
If there are people like that, they're obviously a lot less vocal than the anti guys.
I've been checking Treasure threads lately and I've only seen passionate haters, then people saying they like their games, or some of them, and that's it. The main argument in these threads is that the hate gets a bit exaggerated. It's completely okay to not like something, but it's a bit of a problem when you can't shut up about you not liking it, or getting angry that others do.
>>
>>4164035
This post was pro-treasure (or at least not anti-treasure) and was deleted:
https://warosu.org/vr/thread/S4163403#p4163960

What now?
>>
>>4164105
It's also not fun to be called anti-treasure out of nowhere in a discussion just because some fag doesn't like your opinion, so you better control those shitposters too.
>>
>>4164114
I agree, ad-hominems in general are silly, if someone actually called you an "anti-treasurefag" out of context and for no reason, then that person was a complete idiot.

In the case of this thread and posts like "all treasure fans are nintendobabbies/normies/kids", then the anti-treasure namecalling has a meaning, a pretty obvious one.
>>
>shitposting about not liking Treasure
>osts removed by mods
>shitposting about non retro shit, youtube garbage, "comfy" shit
>allowed
Cool.
>>
>>4164095
Speaking of Square, why was Einhaender so GOOD?
>>
>>4164095
>Then why come to /vr/ to vent about something that happens outside?

Because you're anonymous here and won't be downvoted/banned/whatever. It's also fun to mock the dumb shit that happens in other communities. Like I recall reading a Galaga thread over on reddit where some Treasure idiots felt the need to come in and educate everyone on how Ikaruga was actually the superior shmup.

Like I love Treasure and all, but their fans outside of /vr/ are pretty rabid.

This. He just lost it really hard.

>>
>>4164130
>I didn't make this thread, and I rarely post on /vr/ other than the last couple of days. If you're seeing some pattern, it's not me.
And I should believe you because?
Anyway it doesn't matter if you're OP or not. If you're the guy who said Treasure fans are nintenbabies or whatever, then why not just, like, stop posting? There's not a lot of arguments you can make in order to cover up for your stupidity. Take advantage of the anonymous system, don't reply. Your silly reputation remains anonymous. You're not really helping your anti-Treasure fellows with such shitposts though, you're helping reinforce the notion that the anti-treasure guys are mainly shitposters.

This thread is fucking horrible. Cut the fanboy drama, please.

Of treasure games I enjoyed Gunstar Heroes alot (too short though) and Bangai-o remains one of my favorites. Astro Boy was awesome. Alien Soldier is okay. Dynamite Headdy probably the only Treasure game i distinctly did not enjoy, Mischief Makers kinda sucks too, and Ikaruga is good but severely overrated.

Also that they like nothing more than to accuse other people of being from that site as well.
>>
>>4164185
loving treasure isn't good enough for treasurefags it seems
>>
>>4164156
The international version is better. It's more challenging and has some cool graphical changes. There are a few sound errors, but some of the on screen text and sprites were improved. It also removes all the stupid text from the boss fights, which gives it more of an arcade feeling.
>>
>>4164185
He says he comes here to vent against Treasurefags because of some Reddit posts.
The "I love treasure" part seemed more like falseflag than anything, but even if he actually loves Treasure, his anti-treasure shitposting is due to Reddit, he admitted it.
It also proves my theory that anti-treasure guys don't really hate the company, just certain "fans" (that happen to be redditors)
>>
I subjectively dislike all their games except Gradius V.
Objectively, they are some of the easier games in their genres, but have good production values.
>>
>>4164235

Why do you care?
>>
>>4164245
In term of shmups there are easier games that RSG or Ikaruga that's for sure. Their console games are easy but hey, they are console games
>>
>>4164235
I didn't say that at all. As I said in >>4164093 I was just theorizing why there's so much anti-Treasure posting on /vr/. Outside of the example I gave, I've never done it myself.
>>
>>4164247
Not him, but it never ends and makes any other discussion impossible.

Also the rampant "I don't like what you said so you must be from another website" bullshit is a real plague on this community. I don't give a fuck about that place or the people who post here as well as there, but the constant use of it is horrible.
>>
>>4164250
Also many shmups don't have difficulty settings, Ika does. Easy mode is super easy, but hard mode is a decent challenge.
>>
>>4164261

Stop taking the bait. Everytime someone bites bait it drags out the shitposting.
>>
>>4164247
I'm being nice to the other anon and replying.
>>4164256
My bad then. Your theory would imply that part of the reason for the anti-Treasure thing comes from outside, namely Reddit, but you can't really prove it. I thought you were also part of the anti-treasure bandwagon.
I just thinkg anti-Treasure guys like to bait, for the heck of it.
If they really hated Treasure because they made console games, and these people allegedly only play Arcade games for Hardcore gamers such as themselves, then why don't we see the same kind of reaction in the many, many other console or PC game threads?
I mean, even if we have Reddit or other boards other than /vr/ into account, Treasure still isn't as popular as other companies that have many, many more fans.
>>
>>4164258
0/10
>>
>>4164265
Yeah I honestly like that part of Ikaruga even when the game probably isn't for me, it was probably the influence for Cave to ditch loops later on and put "expert/ultra" modes instead.

>>
>>4165975
Wait. If OP was a "biased treasurefag" or whatever fantasies you have, he'd delete this thread since OP is actually bait.
Sonic Mania is not a retro game, it doesn't run on any /vr/ system.
It's still funny how you get triggered and keep insisting that there's some mod crusade against Treasure or whatever, when it was proven ITT that the anti-Treasure shitposting comes from some anti-Nintendo guy (as if many Treasure fans, like me, didn't got into them thanks to Sega systems), and Reddit users.

It's pretty funny actually.
>>
>>4165989

Retro gaming attracts autists and schizophrenics, mods need to utilise 'time out' bans on this board because the shitposting is increasing

>>
>>4163925
Yeah rs and Ikaruga are fun but I'm not nearly autistic enough to pick and choose my targets in a shmup to the extent that those games ask you to do if you want a decent score.
>>
>>4168214
>those games are fun but I'm not autistic enough to play them well
>>
>>4168214
You don't have to play Ikaruga for score, and with RSG you can use the 'save your weapon level' mode.
>>
>>4167907
So far we've found there's one resident shitposter who claims Treasure sucks because the only people who like Treasure games are Nintendo fans (despite Treasure's first games being on Mega Drive), then we have the shmup autists who never ever post any high score or anything but they're the first ones to claim they're more hardcore than the rest for not liking ikaruga due to being a "normie" game.

Some people also theorize the shitposting comes from jelly Sony fans who never got any real great Treasure exclusive (although I personally liked Gradius V, but not retro).
>>
>>4168382
I dunno, you might be right that Mischief makers is popular, I think it deserves its popularity, it's a great game, I'm actually kind of mad it never came out on Saturn back in the day though, since I didn't own a N64 in the 90s.
However, you're wrong, their most famous fames are the Sega ones: Gunstar Heroes, Guardian Heroes and Ikaruga.
>b-but Ikaruga was released on GC and that's when it became popular
Anti-Nintendo schizophrenics with victim complex... were a huge mistake.
