Loser console wars: 32X vs. 3DO vs. Jaguar

32X has the others beat in terms of longevity. mega drives are dirt cheap and the thing just slots on top, provided you have the right wires.
3DOs are hard to get hold of.
jaguars regularly self-destruct.

if you're looking at it through contemporary eyes, the 32x is the only one people are ever going to have any luck finding.

32X wasn't a console and 3DO was miles better than the other two.

Two game stores near me both had Jaguars recently.

Also I see like 5 listings for 3DO consoles on eBay right now. Few things are truly hard to find in the age of the internet.

The 3DO is actually pretty good, if only it didn't cost like 500 dollars it might've gotten a following.

These were the consoles that almost made me think I had outgrown gaming but it turns out they were just bad. 3DO is easily my favorite of the bunch but the only one that was in my budget during the brief period we erroneously believed these fuckboxes to represent the 5th gen.

We always have at least one of these "which console was more powerful" threads and there does seem to be some retro /g/ types with something to say about it.despite everything back then having completely different approaches to architecture that are difficult to compare apples-to-apples (and manufacturers were happy to compare apples to oranges like pic related)

In my opinion, what really matters are the games. That's why 3DO seems to be the clear winner as OP said. On the other hand, Jag is the most unique with the highest proportion of exclusives but in the real world I don't even have my Jag or 32x hooked up.

The library of the 3DO is probably the "best," but its library really is a snapshot of certain types of game: pseudo-sandbox 3D games (Blade Force, Shockwave, Immercenary), PC ports (Wing Commander, Star Control II), and FMV games (lol Creature Shock, Sewer Shark, Mad Dog McCree). All of (wildly) varying degrees of quality. More or less the 3DO is a dumping ground of the type of game that would be popular on a early-to-mid 90s western PC.

The 3do had a lot of shit games but the shear size of the library and the fact that they're all CD means it had the most good stuff. What woulda coulda shoulda doesn't matter.

Kek. I have something like 6 of them. I honestly don't know exactly how many. I just buy them when I find them cheap and stick them in a closet.

3do blows them both out of the water. The jaguar fucking SUCKS. 32X has maybe 3-4games worth playing and is neat but he'll no., 3DO all the way.

PC- FX cannot even render polygons. It makes the Jaguar look powerful and that is saying something.

The only strength the PC- FX had was its video quality. Hudson also never put any of their franchises on the thing.

You mean that plastic sheath? It's not required for functionality, it's just aesthetic, maybe adds some support so when you insert a game all that force and the weight of the 32X aren't being applied directly to the cartridge slot.

I've never used any sort of "spacer" with mine and it works fine on both a model 1 and model 2 console.
