So besides the goldbox DnD games. What other SSI games are worh a look?
This is my favorite DOS game of all time
This one's pretty cool
Panzer and People General

Renegade Legion is pretty good for a fighter tactical sim.
Stronghold
Colonial Conquest was a favorite of mine. Like a more complex version of Risk. I used to pick Russia and them steamroll the AI with ENDLESS TROOPS.
Gemstone Warrior/Healer are fantastic dungeon exploring games, like an improved Apshai series.
The Phantasie series were pretty good CRPGs.
Questron and Questron II are like ghetto Ultima.
Roadwar 2000/Europa are a decent attempt at a globetrotting mad max RPG.
Wizard's Crown is a more tactical fantasy CRPG than you usually see, and I found that to be worth a go. The manual's a must, though.
I gotta say, Heroes of the Lance is just bad, and Hillsfar is a kind of a snooze.
Anybody know if dragonstrike is any good?

Star Command

not really.
it was fun for about 5 minutes and then novelty wore off.

I like how interconnected industry, trade and diplomacy are.
Battles are kinda weak, though.
Fucking Fantasy General one of my favorite strategy games

I should play this one again, even if I don't completely agree with the food system. I like the sequel too even if the early game expansion is pretty much solved.

I wish they still made games like this. Seems like RPG maker has the possibility for it but all people do is make weeb games.
Buck Rodgers Countdown to Doomsday
An sf d&d game with spaceship battles, squad based tactical combat & other fun things.
Al-Qadim: The Genie's Curse
Fantasy General
Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate
