It's probably one of Capcom's weaker beat-em-ups. It's not bad, but I'd rather play Knights of the Round or the D&D games instead.

It's pure arcade action pretty much, D&D games have a bit more RPG elements but even then it's not too much. RPG just doesn't mix well with arcade beat 'em up

Kirby Superstar, player 2 is pretty much unkillable.

If you want a fantasy beat em up with RPG mechanics, then Guardian Heroes is the game you're looking for.

Secret of Mana is a good bet, but it is a pretty long game. Legend of the Mystical Ninja isn't an RPG, but it is a 2 player game with a lot of different types of gameplay.

Super Ninja Boy is an RPG with action elements (the combat).
Not the best game in the world, but back in the early days of the SNES it was fuckin' rad.
