I heard those songs, I like the elena one a little bit, some of them are okay, some of them are very bad and hold back too much and sound very artificial and characterless.
While I find original third strike tracks very repetetive they got extreme good character, which is very rare and difficult to achive. And that's why I think they are outstanding.

I am not a hip hop/rap fan, I actually hate hiphop and rap. But it feels fresh and very nice to the new characters of third strike especially marketing wise (that basketball dude which was used in the tutorial for example). I like this start because it has the arrogance and street charm of street fighter.

I could post the character select next, but I assume the other third strikes got the same and even if not, I would just repeat myself with last titles reasoning.

This is my favourite track of third strike. Again, third strike is something new and very different. This track and the cocky character somewhat clash, but since it's a fighting game, it makes it so much more epic beating someone up with dudley to this track. I think it's brave they chose that track and I can see why:

So, yeah tracks are very repetetive but not too artificial, still instrumental and very characterestic. And that is what makes them so good and important for third strike.

The sf3rdstrike tracks are trying to be different and new to underline the new gameplay of sf3rdstrike compared to it's precedessors. The tracks are also iconic to the characters.

They already tried that before with streetfighter EX, which had a nice athmosphere, but I think they really did a money shot with sf3rdstrike, because it was so different.

Ugly, no. Obsolete, yes. But for fighting games, it was still considered acceptable due to the high quality of the stuff released by Capcom and SNK.

We "invested" so much time and passion into SF2 and KOF that we couldn't discard 2D fighters immediately, while 3D fighters were providing another experience (less about footsies and fireballs, more about realism). So both types of fighters coexisted until the early 00s.

If you compare them to the SF3rdStrike tracks the SF3S tracks got much more variation of volume and the quality of each instrument is much better. Or here an EX track for example. I dont think EX used Qsound:

God awful, avoid like the plague. The game had to be severely compressed to fit on the SNES cart.
When the announcer says fight there is a 2 second pause before the fight starts so the SNES can decompress its shit.
SOOOOOO many missing frames of animation. Also the sprites themselves look weird.
