NES, I should've mentioned. I'm a little burned out on traditional turn-based combat so I'm surprised that I got back into it so easily. While I'm admittedly playing a romhack, the core gameplay is the same so my point still stands. I guess there's a purity to it.

Dawn of Souls was the first version of FF1 I played back in the day, and honestly I prefer the DnD style limited use spells over mana, and missing enemies if you've targeted them after a faster party member kills them.

Been playing Persona 2: Innocent Sin. Pretty good shit. Still fairly early, I'm going into Mu next. DOOM 64 also, I think I'm about 15 levels in.
