Name five remakes that accurately recreate the gameplay. Meaning that a person currently in the groove on the original game can set the old down, pick up the new and still be in the groove. Until remakes are like that, hypernerds will not accept them.

Why would you want to play the exact same game with different visuals. I want my remakes to keep the basic idea and change everything else, but since most modern games are terrible yeah, it's a no-win situation.

What you're describing is a sequel not a remake. I'm somewhat more okay with old franchises getting sequels since they cheapen the original game less.

Like Bionic Commando. It does kind of weird me out that people think that Rearmed is like a minigame based on that terrible 2009 game but at least they know there's a good Bionic Commando.

Dragon's Dogma too and many others in fact it sort of created a genre for online gaming although it could be argued that it's a little Gauntlet derivative. It's certainly NOT a remake of Phantasy Star though.

DD was more of a straight rpg with a focus on combat. I really wish it had been more in the vein of MH or PSO. It was still good, but no matter what you out level everything if you play it much.

Did give me one of the most epic boss fights I've had though. Three attempts before I won and in the end took over 2 hours fighting a thing that OHKO'd me with anything more than a scratch. Took like a week of days in-game too, night time when the forest was crawling with goblins was scary shit.

Damn I hope they make a good sequel.

why would you want this? if the gameplay really has no problems and is worth "recreating", the company may as well just copy everything over and just make the graphics prettier. but really at that point, you may as well just play the original with upscaling filters because all that would have changed are the graphics.

The original game already has moving while aiming controls, you have to go to options and set controls to Expert mode. It lets you use the C-buttons to walk in any direction while aiming. Improves the game severely.

I'm cool with upscaled emulation, especially if it works well which most of those games do. I think that it shouldn't be so frowned on here when people do it for themselves and I think it's good that it brings classic games to fresher audiences.

I'm mainly thinking about how that new Crash game is good which I had assumed was what inspired OP to even start this thread. It amazes me that a game like that will sell well enough to be worth all the effort it must have taken to recreate it completely but it seems that it did and that's really good news. Maybe we'll see a Spyro remake that's fully legit and it'll sell a hundred million copies or something. I heard Wonder Boy was good and did good too.
