Press 'u' in game (by default) to enable mouse look. Note it's a little clunky but you don't really need it for vertical aim due to the auto aim. Just use it to help you with dynamite aim and of course it will stop you moving in mouse Y axis.

You can set up the rest of your controls in the in game menu, too, including whether or not you want your mouse aim to be inverted.

Oh please. BloodGDX is not finished and doesn't feel finished, though it would be ideal. Additionally, what... an enemy doesn't move 100% like before 100% of the time? It's not perfect but it's a decent way to play it with QOL improvements, spergdexter.

BloodCM is a recreation. It's someone looking at how Blood works and trying to make the same effects in what is essentially the Duke 3D engine. It gets various small things wrong, like physics, timing of enemy animations, the arc of thrown explosives, etc.

BloodGDX is similar in some ways, but the author claims to have used a decompiler or some other tool to at least partially copy the alpha code as closely as possible. Some effects are still unfinished, but it's the closest thing we have to a port right now. True purists would still say it's not close enough, but it's a damn sight better than BloodCM.

You can use the U to to toggle mouselook on which of course disables mouse movement but I really suggest you just get used to mouse movement. It ain't that hard, and mouselook sucks shit in the build engine. Having it on all the time is bound to annoy the shit out of you.

I play with mouse look on but just primarily use the mouse's x-axis. much better than dealing with the mouse movement which is far more sensitive. plus using the y axis for dynamite aim makes a dramatic difference and makes you much better with it. pressing U to toggle it on when you need it or using the keyboard aim just slows shit down and makes things a lot more disjointed.

I'll at least admit that I was wrong, or at least slightly behind. I tried BloodGDX last night and it seems to be in a decent state at this point, but fuck you guys anyway. A month or so ago BloodCM was the best way to play it, barring some minor compromises, you faggots. OH LAWDY LAWD this difference list:

E1M6 - Cannons fire randomly after picking up Fire key.
E1M7 - Crouching will not help you avoid Cheogh or Gargoyle attacks.
E2M4 - You can not finish the level without the Moon Key by crouching under the fence.
E2M5 - Completely different way to reach the Super Secret; you can not lock yourself in the underground tunnel.
E2M7 - You do not need Jump Boots to pass the section after the presses.
E6M2 - Broken mirror releases Hands, not Little Calebs.

It was so very broken and was not at all close enough. It's not like half of those were likely glitches to begin with. I hate you guys. But yes. There *is* a better way to play it now.

It still lacks sprite billboarding, making the enemies look like cardboard cutouts from directly above/below, and the proper 3D rendering is not faithful to how the original game looked. Does this not trigger your autism?

BloodCM is an easy way to play a 20 year old game. The changes can be considered quality of life at worst, and only a purist with *thorough* knowledge of the original will notice any changes.

If you've never played Blood before, BloodCM is still the easiest and best way to play it. Just turn on software rendering and you're good to go.

Dosbox is not hard to use. It's just that source ports tend to provide a better look and feel compared to the DOS version of most games. A lot of these games had awful mouselook. Widescreen is nice. Raising the resolution high enough will put a strain on the CPU through emulation. Also, yeah, it's nice to have one less layer to go through. It's why people might want to use a source port, or god forbid, a TC, in exchange for a bit of accuracy.

I have no problem with source ports. BloodCM is a piece of shit and is NOT a source port. You can also use BMouse with DOSBox if your pussy can't handle Blood's original aim. BloodGDX, though I haven't played it yet, actually looks decent just from youtube vids. That's a doom bab's best option if he can't just play the real game with DOSBox. It will give 1080p and widescreen support, too. Use that you retarded doom bab.

I found it okay with bmouse. I did need to raise the y scaling in setup though because it's way slower than the x axis at the same scale.

It's only weird if you try to look diagonally. As long as you look straight horizontal or vertical, then it's fine.

I'm, more used to doom anyway, so I mostly look just horizontally, which has no problems. It's only rarely that you have to shoot up or down, and in those cases you can just use vertical look to put yourself on the right horizontal plane, and then use horizontal look to aim and shoot.
