Well, is Phantasy Star sci-fi or fantasy? Star Wars?

Science Fantasy is a perfectly cromulent genre.

Like most of the M&M series, it's sci-fi disguised as fantasy.

M&M: Wander around fantasy world, swords and sorcery, up until you find out there's aliens trying to re-capture an escaped prisoner, you can get ray guns, and the world is actually a spaceship.
M&M2: You're the team from the first game, hunting the escaped alien prisoner on yet another spaceship/world. Swords and sorcery, up until you start getting ray guns and head into the command center of the ship/world to disable the self-destruct before it blows.
M&M3: A new team encounters the escaped alien prisoner on a water covered planet where he has landed other spaceships/worlds, and is now launching spaceships/worlds into stars to kill people. Swords and sorcery, they eventually enter the seedship that was used to colonize human life on planets thousands of years ago, and force the escaped alien prisoner to use an escape pod to flee to Xeen.
