The newest edition not by microprose works with Pentium 4 and above with DirectX 9. Not retro though.

The thing is that I used to play this one a long time ago and I have a great deal of nostalgia for the sounds and the old rhythm of the game.

this looks awesome. old mtg is so much better. Have you tried to run it in compatibility mode, or maybe in an XP VM? or DosBox (if applicable)?

Get the modified modern ISO of the game, it works on Win7 that I know of, probably other modern systems. The base Shandalar game is pretty much untouched outside of some bugfixing, the majority of the changes are in the card database for playing constructed/draft.

Just remember the final boss has 500 health and starts with two creatures on the battlefield.
