Contra Hard Corps has a lifebar in Japan, which really nerfs the difficulty.

And as far as the OP goes, the only version of Final Fight that's worth playing is the Arcade version, unless you really REALLY want to beat up thugs to the Sega CD version's soundtrack.

Actually I grew up playing games in english in a country that doesn't speak it, so playing games in a language I don't understand is nostalgic to me and adds an extra layer of fun. You might think being exposed to languages you're not used to is bizarre and undesirable but to me it's fascinating and something I'm used to.
