Camping powerups is about timing them so that you get there like 10 sec before they spawn. It doesnt mean you just stay there long term, because someone will haul in and blow you apart with a rocket.

Learning where the BFG ammo is however, is key, and making sure you time that so you always have it coming in so that some shmuck who doesn't need it doesn't pick it up accidentally.

Get Quad BFG and crack all the tough nuts and make them have to go hunt for their railgun again.

Q3A was the last game Carmack designed and also his favorite. Also Doom 3 had a good MP scene for a while and you can still get duels on it. It's like a hybrid of quake 3 and quakeworld because there is no railgun which lets you play more aggressively.

You're saying all around better but at the same time, framerate dependent fucking texture animations. Looks worse. Runs worse. Buggy audio. Basically requires updating 3D drivers to work half way correctly on modern systems. Slower gameplay, jerky and stiff movement, worse balance, worse netcode.

I'm not saying there are no positives to UT99 like swank game browser and stackable mutator system. "All around better" when it suffers from playability and technical issues and was renowned for being buggy as all fuck when it came out and still to this day is a tad sketchy, but somehow still better. You need to check your definition of better or all around.
