I actually enjoyed Heroes and Shadow the Hedgehog, I only hated doing the fucking arc levels and needing to get all the endings for the true final level

I though Sonic Advance was pretty fucking good. It got the classic physics down and didn't have boosting or a retarded amount of rail grinding.

I have almost accidentally managed to complete every single mainline Sonic game ever made, and I can promise you that Heroes isn't even the best 3D Sonic game, let alone better than the best of the 2D ones.

Even as someone that sees the good in the Adventure games - Heroes is an abomination. There wasn't another good 3D game until Sonic Colors.

If I want to play a 3D platformer, I'm more likely pick something else. 3D Sonic is just overall weak by 3D platformer standards. Sonic Adventure 1 and 2 were the closest to decent level design for Sonic, but had too many other gameplay styles that felt like filler, and werent fully polished. Heroes/Shadow/Sonic 06 were just awfully designed overall. And the modern "boost mode" sonic games are yawn-inducing because of how automated it is, and often shoe in a few 2.5D sections that don't feel right.

How is he still around? I kind of liked the genesis games back in the 90s, but never thought it was anything special. Considering the fact that, from what I've heard, the majority of his post 16-bit games blow, I have no idea how Sonicnhas had so much staying power the last few decades
