I am using a Wii hooked up to an LCD tv via component for retro emulation. I am getting noise that is especially noticeable when the screen is dark. Why?
I get the same distortion on my official Nintendo composite cables and a variety of other component cables. Even tried another Wii and a PS3, same result. Even looks the same on my other LCD tv.
TV expert, only saw this once before it's literally a fucking ghost and its inside of your wii. probably harmless.

I have no idea what that is or what it's meant to look like.

I am not an expert, but I think it may have something to do with photographing a screen of some sort...
In all seriousness if that is a CRT or something it's contemporary you may have a problem with something magnetic near the screen.

grounding or audio interference usually causes static / noise. try a different power outlet. I dont know what the fuck im talking about

It's either that, or the LCDs internal upscaler.
LCDs tend to have noisy upscalers that don't play well with 480i and lower.
It's electromagnetic interference. I hope you have some lead plates lying around (I always do and who doesn't?) so you can insulate your television.

I'm willing to bet that the distortion on your LCD is being caused by the AC electricity in your house. The power supply on your Wii isn't sufficiently filtering out the noise, which causes this.

Try to move your Wii/cables away from other power adapters. Use ferrite cores on your cables. Unplug other devices from your TV to see if it improves.
