I got close as a kid but the final dude has multiple forms and got me close to his end, hard game but i loved it as a kid.

Actraiser and the Lion King. The Lion King especially frustrated me because I didn't even enjoy playing it; I just felt compelled to put it behind me.

Flying Warriors on the NES
also Ninja Gaiden, I ended up deciding other games would better justify my time than doing that same shitty level set over and over just to die at Jaquio and go all the way back.

Most of the game is a breeze except for the final boss rush and that is only because you can't cheese your way through with magic. Most of the bosses have easy to exploit patterns, though.
