That's all I think. I played most of survival horrors on psx, but wouldn't place them in top tier. Out of those, Fear effect 1/2 seemed the most polished one. Try it out if you wish.

The unholy war is also quite, if not more, hidden gem, like hogs. Try campaign on hard difficulty, very engaging.

RE1/3 aged like fine wine both visually (on real crt tv) and mechanically. its tight and responsive in terms of controls, plus no bugs at all.

Nightmare Creatures, if mainly for the soundtrack, is still enjoyable.

especially RE1 with it's blood effects(looks like jelly), and blocky characters almost looking like virtua fighter blocks. Voices are crap.

They both have poor replayability, you don't want to return to these games after 15 years. Becouse you'll end up knowing where the ammo is, having no challenge at all, and running mundane courses though halls. It also hurts that you know, that Nemesis fights can be avoided, all except one, so it's no longer scary.

In what ways fear effect is extremely unpolished? It has legitimate voice acting, good controls, and very good visuals for PSX game.

Yes, I put Medievil and Spyro far above Resident evil. Even though I have played resident evil a lot and it was my favourite game when I was a teen, can't say objectively that it was top.

How about no? Dissapearing enemies bug, obscurity, bad dialogues.Also, some levels are badly designed. Great game, but not top notch like op wants.

Can't say anything about the shmups and Ghost in the shell you have listed, but others seem top, especially ape escape, moh and syphon filter.

I present a cheesy underrated gem with an equally cheesy title - CT forces (has a sequel too).

Basically slow-paced Metal Slug clone. It's therefore a bit more methodical , especially in coop. Has a bit more gameplay variety than Metal Slug too, since there are various mini-game kind of levels like parachuting.

All behave like first stage: very flat, very easy obstacles, very poor, bland design.

Dino, egyptian, maybe arabian stages were good, rest were pretty bland or gimmick stages. I mean, I liked it as a kid, but come on. Are they really that fun? Crash 2 had the best ballance of good looking with mechanically proper. Some Crash 1 stages were too ugly.

Frying somebody with taser is a 11/10 experience.

Picrel is even better with 2 players coop, playing missions and doing objectives together. Salvage points are kind of annoying, and change of look of cars for more futuro with upgrades is kind of cheesy.(flying trash master lol).

Game simply has a bunch of these little parts where you will go "huh I wonder if i can try to do this and if it will work/something will be there/if it will make a difference in something, and it typically does.

The only flaw is that visually its a bit outdated, and was even then. Backgrounds are not nearly as detailed as RE2/3 or Dino Crisis 2. It's pretty much RE1 visual level, although far more colorful.

Being "comfy" and having replayability aren't the same thing.
"Comfy" might make you want to return to the game because you like playing the game multiple times, but that's subjective.
Replayability, in strict terms, is not subjective, is very dependent on what the game offers to the players once they beaten it once.

In RE case:
If i replay it, does the game offer different approaches/routes to the same situations? No.
Does it offer different situations, or altered ones? No.
Is the atmosphere given by not knowing how things will evolve part of the gameplay so that knowing things prior will in fact take a lot away from said atmosphere? Yes
By knowing things prior, can I skip parts of the game and/or fights taking away a huge amount of the thrill given by the first play though? Yes.
Is the game still scary by knowing what will happen and when will happen? No.
RE has no replayability, the only choice you have once you replay it is to skim through it knowing things you can avoid and knowing exactly where to go for the things you need(you can't magically pretend you don't know things and go the wrong ways on purpose just cause), the exploration portion is gone, the scare factor is gone, the pure thrill of not knowing how to deal with what you have and trying to find a solution while anything unknown could jump out of nowhere is gone.

It might be "comfy" for you, and if it is, it is because YOU like replaying the same game with the knowledge you have, altering the experience(in a bad way), not because it has replayability.
