Superior games of competing companies thread.
I remember this released around the same time as Wave Race 64 and everybody was like "Dude wave race has so much better graphics". Didn't matter, Jet Moto was way more fun. What were some other similar-themed games across competitors?

it must suck to only enjoy just jet moto.
i can enjoy both games fine.

Uh Wipeout vs F-Zero, 1080 vs Cool Boarders, Wave Race vs Jet Moto, Twisted Metal vs Vigilante, Metal Gear Solid vs Syphon Filter (maybe)

Interesting topic, thought wave race and jetMoto are not easy to compare, gameplay wise. You can compare them marketing wise. Nintendo had the stronker marketing and the all age approach. I agree that I prefer jet moto over wave race, and we live in a trash world were marketing rules over the idiot masses.

Never enjoyed Wipeout. Fancy graphics, but didn't feel good to play. I love F-Zero, love the way it plays and the track and ship designs.

F-Zero is a futuristically dressed arcade racer but Wipeout is based on piloting a thing strapped to a rocket, like needing to pull up the nose to avoid ping ponging off the floor or consciously apply brakes in order to glide through a corner. They both cover opposite ends of the futuristic racer spectrum. People just assume the two are identical because they're vaguely competitors.

>1080 vs Cool Boarders
1080 gets compared to Cool Boarders 2, and iirc the latter is a lot more popular. Personally I only played 1080 for a little bit (kid with N64 moving out) but I remember not liking the controls.

1080 looked nice, but landing was always way too unforgiving, and doing spin tricks was an analog stick destroyer. The handful of times I tried Coolboarders 2, I couldn't make any sense of how to do tricks.
