It aged badly due to its artificial difficulty and trial-and-error gameplay, yet still has a retro feel. I play it with my wife's son regularly.

Great music, sound and athmosphere, Awesome monster design. And fantastic events, like plane throwing bombs, boss smashing through wall, bike level with tons of sub bosses. Actually all levels have tons of subbosses, so its a great study for game design. The heroes in the us version a garbage, but I love the bots in the pal version

Outside of the mode7 levels, which weren't that bad, this game was superb. Hard Corps is better, but the music and stages in 3 have a much more cinematic and grandiose feel.

Childhood is idolizing Hard Corps. Adulthood is realising Alien Wars makes more sense.
