Say happy birthday to one of, if not the greatest retro games studio.

What is your favourite game of theirs, /vr/?
>>
The one that's the shortest and doesn't waste too much of your time
>>
Be warned OP; this board as a regular poster or two that loathe Treasure with all their might and will flock to say how they think Treasure is overrated.
Anyway, what was their first game, Gunstar heroes, right? One of my favorites on Mega.
Sin and Punishment might be my fav by them.
>>
Favorite game is Guardian Heroes.

Anyway, what this guy >>4070406 said, the only threads that are guaranteed to have as much butthurt/autism as Treasure threads are the Castlevania threads and the NESfag-monopolized Survival Horror threads.

I've only played Ikaruga, Radiant Silvergun, Bangai-O (Dreamcast), Gradius V, and Astro Boy, but Bangai-O is my fav due to its unique gameplay and nonsensical Engrish dialogue.
>>
>>4070536
You gotta give Alien Soldier a play sometime. Best run 'n gun shooter.
>>
>>4070398
Alien Soldier is probably my favorite, then the first S&P and third place goes to Radiant Silvergun.

Funny how the aesthetics of this game look like such a hot mess at a first glance, but when you actually play it you can't help but be enthralled by its charm
>>
My favorite is an obscure little game called Ikaruga. It's a quite a hidden gem, you know.

On a more serious note, how many of Treasure's licensed games are worth playing? I skipped over them when I was playing through their library, but apparently some are good.
>>
>>4070994
Astro Boy is stellar.
>>
>>4070994
Yu Yu Hakusho on Mega Drive is a pretty interesting fighting game and has 4 players MP, a blast with friends.
Astro Boy Omega Factor is also one of my personal Treasure favorites, definitely worth playing, even if you're not familiar with Astro Boy/Tezuka lore
>>
Mischief Makers was tons of fun, Gunstar Heroes is probably the best multiplayer game I own, and Alien Soldier is awesome, of course. One of those three, if I had to pick.

I like Dynamite Headdy but I wouldn't call it a favorite, and I've never played any of their shmups, though I do want to at some point.
>>
>>4071017
Too bad it has so much slowdowns, and half the game is boring shmup levels. Still, it's probably their best GBA game, though I haven't tried the Ippo Punchout clone yet.
>>
>>4071137
>and half the game is boring shmup levels
I only remember a handful of these, most levels are on-foot. But I really liked the shmup ones, I like how you can still dash around with the jets, and bosses like the artificial sun or the giant scarabi were very memorable.
>>
>>4070406
I would say S&P as well, since I don't care for any of their other games except Alien Soldier.
>>
What if the "Treasure is overrated" shitposter is just a SNESfag that's still butthurt over Genesis receiving 6 amazing exclusives that he never got to play back then?
>>
>>4071382
>6 amazing exclusives
Ehh, Light Crusader and McDonalds were forgettable at best and Yu Yu Hakusho was pretty mediocre.
>>
>>4071382
Just filter him instead of getting triggered before he's even started posting
>>
>>4071421
I thought LC was the best action-RPG for the system, and Yu Yu is one of the few 4-person fighters from that gen, even if it's pretty broken. I'll give you McD's though, that game is so-so.
>>
>>4071472
>I thought LC was the best action-RPG for the system
I don't know if I'll call those games RPG, but similar to LC there's story of thor, crusader of centy, landstalker and the wonder boy games
>>
>>4071382
Or it could be a Sonygger mad that Nintendo and Sega got all the best Treasure games, while they got...

>a shitty port of a decent Saturn game
>a weird dodgeball game nobody cares about
>a shitty remake of Silpheed
>the worst numbered entry of Gradius
>a shitty 3D pinch 'em up
>>
>>4071418
>Reminder Radiant Silvergun is the greatest shooter of all time.
ftfy
>>
I still think Silhouette Mirage is one of their best games, but I haven't played all of their offerings, like Alien Soldier
>>
>>4073279
The gameplay would've been a lot funner if you could swap polarity on the fly like Ikaruga. Also, fuck Soup Jew.
>>
>>4073321
The entirety of chapter 4 can fuck off. There's so many shitty, tedious bosses back-to-back.
>>
>>4073321
I agree. Maybe someone will learn how to make that possible. Remap the Triangle button to instantly swap with no magic drain. I feel there's a debug command for that somewhere
>>
If this isn't your favourite Treasure game then you're lying to yourself for no good reason.
>>
>>4073349
This one is at least as good as the Konami licensed games like Tiny Toon.
Light Crusader was weird, I gave up after getting stuck on a puzzle, I could look it up online but whatever, I might pick it up again someday. I simply can't get into the isometric controls, and the game has platforming so it's frustrating, but the game is still good, I liked the atmosphere, music, the level design was well thought out.
LC was Treasure trying to make a western-style game, I wonder what motivated them to develop it, would love to read an interview about it.
