Well it's still not different from a girl having her face similar to her dad's.

IMO Silent Hill did the FMV's well. They were short and simple, plus the facial animation was the best around. Still kinda blows my mind how well they're done. During the blooper scenes you can see individually modelled wrinkles appear on their faces just like in real life.

What you posted isn't what uncanny valley means. Uncanny valley is when something made to look human comes extremely close but not quite -- in fact, it's the close similarity which makes it creepy and uncanny. Stuff like Final Fantasy: Spirits Within or Polar Express, not the video you linked, which is just bad models, poor motion, no textures, etc.

One of my favourites, the Japan exclusive Digimon World: Digital Card Battle. It looks bad? Well, the models are really bad. Leomon body looks like a Playstation-tier model turbosmoothed, but the direction is amazing.

Why? To me it just makes sense. Cutscenes don't really matter, but when the whole game looks like a pile of ass that's a different situation. Graphics aren't everything, but it's a visual medium. You want it to at least look decent.
