I can't help but wonder how much of the setting and character backstory has been actually written that didn't make it to the game.

It's a shame the strategy part was so underutilized, too.

I should give this a shot someday, it seems like it's had a good reputation for a long time but doesn't get as much attention as other D&D-branded SSI games (admittedly probably part of the reason I never played it either).
