My favorites are 1 and Rondo. Both are fun as fuck and dem OSTs mang. I will never forget the moment I listened to Wicked Child for the first time. It was amazing.

I only tried Super Castlevania IV recently. I thought it was shit 2bh. Too easy and was just boring af game.

I also had Castlevania 64. Thought it was okay, playable, but nothing special. never beat it because my memory card got corrupted twice with it so just said fuck it as wasn't inclined enough to play it more. pretty meh game.

I hope the other games are better than castlevania 4 'cause goddamn that game blows desu

Someone always says this in every CV thread, but they fail to realize that Rondo has the hardest designed bosses in the series which take actual practice to not die to, unless you decide to cheese with the Bible or Guardian Knuckle. At any rate, they're a lot more interesting to fight than any of Super IV's bosses, besides the ghost dancers.

I'm trying to finish 3 but the last 2 screens is a nightmare for me. Any tips for the crows? They aren't much of a problem is I make it with an ax but if I die I'm fucked.
And whats the trick to the medusa room? I made it through once just by running, every other time I haven't been so lucky.

Right now Dracula X is my current favorite. I've recently discovered it and the music and graphics do more for me than IV. Second fave has to be Aria of Sorrow, followed by Bloodlines on Genesis.

Curently playing through the x6800 on Chronicles and the original Rondo on Vita and having a blast. Honestly I kind of like X more than Rondo.

I haven't played 2 or 3 on NES yet. Also I kind of like 64 more than I probably should.

The least currently popular one is my favorite, my tastes are very hardcore and too esoteric for you to understand

To be 100% honest, every single Castlevania game has tracks and moments that make you make go that face. Usually the first track is the hit (like VK on 1), but then something like Wicked Child comes up and it shakes your world the fuck up.

Everyone knows Cross Your Heart, but that's the "hit" one, the rest of the soundtrack is full of great pieces like stage 6. That's some wacky, epic salsa-flavored Castlevania theme. Love it.

Very well. I find 3 to be the pinnacle of the series. Atmosphere comes together so well with a combination of great sprite art, a fantastic soundtrack, and good choice in color usage to create about as good of a horror theme as one could on the system. Even further beyond that, the game is practically bleeding out level design quality and even manages to bring new and great features without ruining the formula such as new characters with unique abilities and multiple paths. It's also one of the more satisfying games to beat in general due to the constant challenge which pushes you to do better and that moment in which you do is irreplaceable. It's not out of reach and you have infinite lives, so the game is practically teasing you with "Come on anon, just one more try!". This game's quality is high enough to potentially even change what one might expect from a game during its era. It plays like something from late 16 bit that was shoved into an NES cart for some reason. It's also rather impressive that Konami managed to localize the OST so well considering the loss of the expansion audio provided to Akumajo Densetsu via the VRC6. All around this game is just a product of love and effort. It's one of the games that really keeps me coming back.

I just watched this for the first time last week and no. Just no. It was okay at best. I watched the 80's(?) film though, so maybe I watched the wrong one? Was kinda blurry to me if that was the good one or not. It was entertaining at least though, I'll give it that. Just nowhere near CV tier.

I've never seen anybody "famous" shit on it. Even Egoraptor, who never finished the game in his life and dared to make a "critic" of the game design (many of the ideas he said would make the game better, were already implemented on the later levels of the game - he just never got there because he can't git gud), but still he said IV is a great game. He just wants to sound smartass by making "critics" to popular games like CV IV and OOT, but all his credibility was lost when he finally made Game Grumps episodes about these games and everybody could see how little he knew about those games, and how he sucked as a player.

The IV hate you see around here is mostly contrarians, shitposters, bait, etc.
Like, it's OK if it's not everybody's favorite Castlevania, there's many great ones to pick as one's favorite, but when I see someone saying "IV is shit! overrated!" I start rolling my eyes.
