Hey all. What is SEGA Forever? Also anyone got a rip of the tape? I'd like to add it to my library as a playlist/album, I think it'd be cool. inb4 just get the songs individually.

Is it going to be some new subscription service for retro gaming?

Seeing shining force included on there makes me cry, good times

I collect tapes.
Would like to own that thing.
>>
Anyone know where a rip to that tape is?

doubt you can find them. i have a fostex x-15 and a fresh tape. want me to do some custom rips?
>>
>>4061691
Looks nice. Are those a bunch of weird Japanese punk stuff or something?

Yeah, underground japanese rock bands, mostly from the 90s.
In one of the inserts of one of them there's a Special thanks dedicated to Sarah and Jacky from Virtua Fighter.
>>
>>4061772
Please do not do it.

Serious answer: SEGA is rolling out a bunch smartphone ports of Master System/Genesis games with cloud saves that you can optionally buy a subscription for to play them all. Might come to PC/consoles as well. Some people are doing hot takes that 32x/Saturn games will also be released, but I highly doubt it.
>>
>>4061691

Oh damn, Velvet Eden. Nice!
>>
>>4061807
Because some things should just be left alone and this is one of them. Also if Sega wanted it available like that they'd put it online.
>>
>>4061891
What a dumb reason. I want a damn rip of that tape...
>>
>>4061691
you into grindcore? you should buy all my unholy grave shit
>>
>>4061920
2nd for a tape rip. The other guy obviously wants to keep it a 'rare' item instead of sharing it with the world
>>
>>4061920
or you could maybe download each track and create a custom album J_J
>>
>>4061648
Is there a playlist on spotify or something?
>>
>>4061982
It's always a good idea to have a rip of something, even if it's some cassette with probably shit quality recordings of sega arcade jingles. You know, in case an All Lights Fucked scenario happens.

Has anyone figured out why Sega sent out a Bic pen with the tape?

A secret message on the leader perhaps?
>>
>>4062465
I figured it was to give the tapes a more authentic appearance. Obviously everything is printed and not handwritten, but it is designed to look handwritten.
>>
>>4061891
baka

doing it right now.
>>
>>4061691
>two MISA tapes

Jesus. Can you provide a FLAC rip that isn't shit? The clearest sounding rip of it online is 192.
>>
>>4062970
Not sure about you but when I gave or received a mixtape back in the day there were no pens thrown in.
>>
just so we're clear, i hope the majority of you are aware you can run emulators on smartphones, and playing old games on phones usually sucks.
>>
>>4063072
Unless you have a BT controller.

Also, like with neogeo, its good theres a way to finally own legally in some way a game after emulating them for so long.
>>
>>4063080
where do you put the phone?
>>
>>4063090
Don't make me say it...
>>
>>4063080
I don't know about the rest but metal slug "ports" are super shit and use stolen source code.
>>
>>4063097
please do.
>>
>>4063043
It's nostalgia bait. You can rewind the tape with a pen.
Also legal emulation always sucks.
>>
How many people who are interested in playing old games on their phone aren't savvy enough to use emulators? I can't imagine there's a lot of people willing to pay for a subscription service.

On the other hand, if that new Sega Flashback (or whatever the fuck it's called) console used wifi and accessed the same cloud saves -- then I'd be interested.
>>
>>4063102
Yeah, they are shit and will never beas giid as having a cartridge, but at least i can say I own these games and im paying them back for all the times ive emulated those games.

Here you go, I actually remembered I had this rar uploaded, it has a bunch of Misa stuff including his solo tape. I think it's all 320kbps, enjoy.

Thank you so much.

Here's Splash. 海底2万マイル and Eleven Islands are my favorite songs, but all the songs on the album are pretty awesome.

Surely you mean to take up slack on the reels if the tape had been rattling around uncased?

To actually rewind say a C90 using that method would be literally retarded.

Pic somewhat related, my main dubbing deck which I've owned from new.
>>
>>4061648
Of all songs from Shining Force 2, why the town theme?
>>
>>4064659
You should take better care of your shit, even though it was bpc to begin with.

>paying for emulation of 25+ year old games

Is there honestly anyone browsing this board that hasn't had every 8 and 16 bit sega rom sitting on their hard drive for a straight decade at this point?
>>
>>4065664
If it was a service that offered apps on multiple platforms, supported cross platform multiplayer, and had cloud saves, I could see myself paying for it -- provided it had a large enough library, including Dreamcast games.

But this is Sega, so of course it'll be garbage.

Thank you, I'll give these a try.
I've listened to some Sunahara before, and he was part of Denki Groove, which I love. Do you have any Denki Groove stuff? I'm still searching for their 25th anniversary EP and any of their live DVDs.

Please take your /mu/ meme snobism somewhere else
>>
>>4061772
kind anon, please consider doing both mp3 320 and flac rips and include a scan plus photo of the pen etc and your own info file

I will seriously love you if you can deliver and will probably write a short piece dedicated to you.

share and enjoy!

Haha, no. It's never put a foot wrong in nearly 20 years of regular service and does absolutely phenomenal copies.

That said, my DD Technics main playback deck is better built. Can't really beat late 70s/early 80s Japanese stuff with heavy gauge metal construction and through hole components.

Fine, transcode the FLAC file to whatever earcancer you like but don't ruin it for the rest of us that actually dump money into our music hobby
