I'm not sure if this is the correct board to post this. It is somewhat related to retro gaming, though.
I'm trying to play some PS1 games in RetroArch, but all of the sprites have weird shit going on and the games have issues rendering transparency. The attached image is from Breath of Fire IV in a burning forest sequence. I've been changing the display settings but nothing seems to be helping me out. For anyone else playing PS1 games in RetroArch: How do I get my have transparent objects render correctly? And how do I maintain crisp looking sprites? Mind sharing what you have your visual options set to?
I'm interested to know how you managed to fuck up ps1 emulation in RA so spectacularly. Considering there is nothing you need to change to get games running well.

The screenshot is from the default settings. So, yeah, I'm interested in knowing this as well.
Which core are you using?
>>4055132
Beetle PSX HW
>>4055807
Yeah, don't use that. It's incomplete. Think they just abandoned working on it. Use standard Beetle.
>>4055807
>HW
That's the culprit.

I'm using standard Beetle and PCSX and I'm experiencing the same problems. I see floating pixels around the characters in certain frames, and transparency is jacked up. Everything is still on the default settings.
Maybe there's something wrong with the game file itself?

Actually, I see that RA is auto selecting HW after I manually select a different core. How do I fix this?

....and scratch that. I managed to get RA to detect the core. Thanks for your help, everyone.
